The Watering Hole

The biggest problem with micing an amp when in the same room as the backing track monitors is minimizing bleed of the backing track into the cabinet mic.  One option is to play the amp so loud that it is hardly noticeable.  However, I have found an extremely simply answer to this.   As most of the problem is with the low frequencies from the backing track, simply play along to the backing track with the bass rolled off (and some of the top end) almost completely on the backing track.....so simple yet works really well.
Good tip that I can use in my situation.

With my setup I pan to a single monitor farthest away from the mic and angle the mic and cab so the least sensitve area of the mic pattern is toward the monitor.  Sometimes I use headphones, but I don't like it for some reason.

I also have a massively heavy iso box that will cut ambient noise and let me crank the amp more, but since I don't have dedicated space I rarely use it.
