The Watering Hole

Have Win 8. Hate it. Have USB 'out' from the amp. The software program that comes with the amp recognizes the USB in, as I can make changes to patches from my computer. So I know the computer is seeing the amp.

But I can't get the computer to 'hear' the amp. There is no sound from the computer's speakers from the amp, and my recording software does not get any signal at all from the amp.

All tutorials I've found online have people happily going to the sound settings in the control panel and making sure things are hunkydory (most are with Win7 or earlier). But none of my sound 'input' selections register that there is anything plugged in...much less from a usb port.

I'm using Cool Edit Pro2. But since there is no playback through my computer speakers, I don't think that program is the issue.

Anybody with Win 8 know something I don't? I want to throw down some licks to some of the Friday Night tracks, but can't at this point. Do I need a different sound card?

Help?

Are you sure that the audio driver that comes with the amp supports windows 8 ?

I also hate win 8, especially from a business perspective, it just adds wasted time to everything you need to do.....it's a bit of a toy operating system in my opinion and I haven't met anyone yet that likes it. I downgraded all new pc's to win 7

edit:  Which amp is this by the way ?
Seems like Windows 8 would at least recognize something from the USB being installed, even if it doesn't support it.  Try a different USB port.  I have had issues sometimes and changing ports helps it configure.
Win 8 and Audio are sorta like Oil and Water. Multiple I know have had issues with Win 8 and gone back to Win 7 for recording.

as Jon stated if the machine is seeing the amp in the editing app make sure the audio drivers are win8 ones. If there are not ones for Win8 you maybe out of luck.
