Come on, 91 senators voted yes on it, and the House Republicans won't even allow a vote?

Boehner even orders C-SPAN to cut its camera and audio feed?

What the fuck is wrong with the House? Do any of these jokers deserve to be returned to office?
Just proving the "do nothing congress" again an again...
If the opposite of "Pro" is "Con," then what's the opposite of Progress?  ;)
Entrenched interests?
Obsessive nudity?

My guy Lloyd Doggett does, but the Texas GOP is doing their damndest to gerrymander him out of there...bunch of dipshits.

I think there should be a constitutional amendment about the establishment of congressional districts. I think they fucked that up not including it in the Constitution. They should be solely based on population (and not race or economics), geographically designed to be boxes that evenly distribute the population of a state among its Congressional representatives instead of the weird slivers they have these days.

We'd get more equal and appropriate representation and less partisanism or entrenchment.

And hopefully idiots like Boner and Cantor wouldn't get elected at all.

Can we do better on these numbers?

Not exactly saying it would be great but, wtf?

Interesting that the Obama election was the biggest percentage voter turnout since 1968!

It truly is in the republicans interest to suppress voter turnout. How sad is that?
I don't know. I think the turnout will be just as high, if not higher, this election.
Hookbender — Dec 29, 2011I don't know. I think the turnout will be just as high, if not higher, this election.

I doubt that. However, if turnout is as high as it was in the 2008 election, or higher, I guarantee that Obama will win, I'd put money on it.
Well, I don't know about that. It depends on which clown ends up running against him. My vote goes to Ron Paul today. I don't like everything he's for but he and I are on the same page with alot of things. Straight up common sense approach that I like very much. If Ron has no chance and one of the other fools look strong, Obama will get my vote as well. I think we need a change though. The country is pretty much sitting still with no growth right now.

This Iran thing is really looking bad right now as well. That certainly won't help. (the economy)
It's definitely not going to help gas prices.

Ron Paul interests me and always has. He's pro-legalization, anti-war, and pro personal freedom.  The rest of the Pubs are anti-every freedom except the freedom to own guns so I can't support any of them.

However, returning the country to the gold standard is impossible.  That would either reduce the amount of money we have by a ton, or increase the price of gold to something ludicrous per ounce ($30k an ounce anyone?) If Ron got elected, it would be 4 years of even less progress in Congress, as he brought up all of his nutty ideas and they were rejected handily by Congress, one after another.
Your probably right. But Congress needs to change also, or be changed. They don't represent the people anymore. They represent themselves. IMO, most of the stupid decisions made today don't come from the President, they come from congress and the senate. If people vote for a person to be President based on his ideas for improvement of this country, that person should be able to execute those ideas. Thats what we voted for.

I think the congress should be changed every 4 years. Rather, their should be a vote added at election time for them also. The people in the congress are as important, or more important really, than the President himself. This shit of people staying in Congress for 20 damn years is just stupid and really stagnates the progress of this counrty, imo.
I agree 100% on 4 year terms, and I'll go one better... All outside financing should end and each candidate should get 100-500k (depending on district size) of public funding to spend on the campaign.
Damn, we are in agreement! :)
