i'll go with the announcement of Iran's nuclear program as a success
Maybe but it doesn't mean it is
the regime is desperate to deflect domestic
attention by creating a foreign conflagoration.

We'll see. I think a demonstration of their nuclear efforts will earn a retaliation from Israel in a very physical way. history has shown that israel will strike when it's backed up against a wall.
I had high hopes for a revolution but it doesn't look like it is going to happen.  Our intervention in Iraq has also made it much easier for Iran to focus less on real external threats and more on their PR war with the West... essentially, Iraq now poses no threat.  The people of Iran clearly want change, but there is no mechanism to accomplish it.  Elections there are almost pointless, with a religious council making the real decisions.  I'd vote to topple that regime and replace it if I thought there was even a chance we could be successful... and if we weren't already way overextended in Iraq and Afghanistan.  What a fucking mess.
