Good thing I didn't get rid of my unclean Yukon....and take a huge loss as some did in panic.

And people said we would never see low gas prices again. Wrong.
Now I didn't think it would take a disastrous economy to make it happen... ;D
I guess they fooled you, eh? Gas is around $2.89 a gallon and you think it's low??!
When gas gets down below $2.00 a gallon where it belongs, let us know.
I'm sure it will stay low forever, too, Hook.
funny how $70 is now considered "low" :)
Considering it was $140 a barrell not long ago, now $70 and falling is great.
I still can't see why the actual gas prices are still around 3 bucks. But in time, we'll get back to normal I'm sure. Maybe when Obama is President, it will get back to .99 cents a gallon right? ;D
Gas prices are still high, but in time they will get back to normal levels again, hopefully. It's surely going in the right direction.
I don't count on this lasting much longer. OPEC countries have started getting used to the extra income high oil prices have been yielding them and are meeting Friday to talk about possibly cutting production. I personally wouldn't count on shit normalizing.

What d'ya mean normal - $70 a barrel are the normal levels for the past decade.
If the global economy really tanks and even China goes into recession then oil prices will tank to $50 - maybe a bit lower
But it won't go back to $20-30 level any time soon.
Why - fundementals - too much demand chasing a finite and diminishing resource.

I saw $2.32 this morning.
Saw $2.39 today myself.

Talk to you in a week or two about that $2.00 a gal gas. Possibility even less. This isn't the first time we had gas problems and prices came back down. Remember the Carter days when we had so many problems with even getting gas period, along with prices? Years after that I got gas for .99 cents a gallon.

Opec, two days ago announced a cut and oil still fell again today. The price per barrell of oil fell $4.00.....today, after this announcement.....

I thought that was during Nixon's time, no?
filled up for $2.17 this morning. That was with my 10 cent/gallon discount with my Kroger card.
How lucky we are in Silicon Valley. $3.35 yesterday. Luxury tax.
Yet another thing I don't miss about Kalifornia...

Ahem. It's below $2.00/gallon. In these parts, anyway.
Not here yet, but I filled up yesterday (17+ gallons) for under $40 for the first time in a LONG time ($2.219).
BTW - Why the FUCK do they still add that rediculous .9 to the end??!
Saw $2.13 yesterday here in Jax, and my last fill up last week was at $2.19. woohoo!! i am not thinking of it in terms of gas coming down, but rather that it is on sale for a short while, it will go back up.
$1.79/ gallon fillup yesterday, and that was WITHOUT my 10 cents per gallon discount at Kroger.

The crude price is set for delivery for four to six weeks out... this price per barrel is the lowest its been in a long time... so everyone should get to under two bucks soon. So, as of right now, for at least the next four to six weeks, the price will keep coming down.
Well it's $1.92 here. Methinks I'll be keeping my Expedition after all!! ;) ;D ;D
cgtrox 8-)
Oil prices NEVER changed here for years....
I know it first hand: Since year 2000, I ALWAYS put 70 of gas in my car !! ;D :D
Just thought this thread needed a new post. I am confused as fuck here.
Back when oil was at an all time high, around $140 a barrel, it was costing me about $4.50 a gallon. Now, oil is at around $42 a barrel. Basically, 1/3 of the cost of the high. Yet, gas costs me $2.30 a gallon, half the cost of the high. I sense record profits again for gas companies. What the fuck?
Pick said 69.Huh...Huh. ;D
pickmaster60 — Feb 24, 2009I saw $1.69 today.
Yes, but what was your high? And remember, you don't live in California. These are the price changes I have seen. I am just wondering why gas would go up to 4.50 at a high of $140 a barrel, but only down to about half that when prices drop by 2/3. The math doesn't work for me.

The spot price of a barrel of oil is clearly a very significant part of the variable cost - but the refining, retail pump stations and distribution costs are in the price and they won't have fallen.
the maths is standard biz stuff.
Fixed costs + Variable costs = Price charged
How much of the profit is fixed and how much is variable - dunno.
but an in my head calculation says you are paying about $1.20 fixed cost at the moment.
We're getting fucked by oil companies. Don't need math to realize that. :)
Filled up for $1.629/gal here in Austin.
I'm just happy when it's less than $20 to fill my tank (which is 11 or 12 gallons).
I'd be fine with a price floor like they have in Europe to encourage better mass transit systems. I'd love to be able to walk to a train station and go downtown. Buses are annoying and environmentally don't really help matters as much as trains.
I'm hoping that the rail line that goes by the main street I live off of gets moved to somewhere outside of town (like they plan), and they use that line for the local rail system. That would be awesome - hop on the train and head downtown!

Don't do your fingers like you did in your picture while on the train....you might get arrested. ;D ;D

True. Thanks to all the wimpy, terrified Americans we have as a result of 8 years of Republican fear-mongering and 20 years of overdone political correctness from all sides, of course...
