Harry Reid is there to remind you it's not.

I'm not sure why so many people can't see Obama as just a man, and not a black man, or a "Negro" as Reid puts it.  Idiot.

Obama is black??!  :o
another idiot shows himself....
And now Blagojevich-- what a freaking fool.  "Blacker than Obama".

Can't we just get beyond all this crap yet?
Here's the thing. Racism works both ways. Yes it does....

Racism will take generations to fix, and it will take a many year to move forward. There is no quick fix. Hell it may take another 100 years. The important thing is, we continue to take steps forward. Simply electing Obama was a step forward, it didn't eliminate racism. It wasn't a fix.

"Some" black folk hate white folk. Mostly poor uneducated people. Same with white folk, with the exception of the fact that the white folk are also rednecks. ;D

It's not going away anytime soon. It's not a perfect world either.

I would say this. Racism is a form of hate. I bet the racist hate as many of their own color as they do opposite. The one's I've met are just plain hating.

I wonder why this guy is still around and Trent Lott got kicked to the curb. Be a perfect time to practice what the Dems preach. Fuck this guy.

I'm not sure I'd call that racism.  Doesn't seem like there was any love lost between Clinton and Obama, he was furious that Obama was knocking his wife off the post, and, hey, it was probably true.  Obama came from nowhere, he wasn't even in the Senate when he gave his 2004 Democratic Convention speech.

The other examples are more clear to me.

As for why Reid is still around, and Lott was kicked out, I don't know.  What I do know is that it is frustrating to me to see a young, smart, articulate person in the presidency, and a bunch of old, uninteresting dudes leading the Senate.  It would be fantastic to have a few young, vital people in real positions of power, besides Obama.
How about some real term limits for Senators?  That might stop the dinasaur dynasties that we've seen (and force younger blood in there).
Their are a lot of people who think a President should be an older experienced, whatever that means, guy. And it is absolutely critical that Obama be somewhat successful. At least it is to me. And I think it is for the country as well. For America. The total fuckwad of this deal is the amount of Rush type Repubs who want nothing more than for Obama to fail at any cost. I really think that Bush pushed forward this war between Dems and Repubs and it looks as though the first real failure of Obama's is the desire for Dems and Repubs to work together. The fuckers better realize real soon that for this country to pull out of this mess, it's gonna take everyone working together to do it.

I agree with you Charger. If ever there were a time for younger leaders with new and fresh ideas, it would be now.

Yeah.  What's most discouraging to me is how many people there are in the House and Senate, irrespective of party, who would rather see the other side fail than the country succeed.  We are in dark-ass times, financially, and we need some people to put aside their bullshit and find a way to the other side.
I wonder how many in the House or Senate truly realize that they're supposed to be representing the people... :-?
0.
i've decided there will not be an incumbent who gets my vote this year. i don't care whose flag you are flying; the system is broken and needs fresh blood.
Well, if you don't vote, don't bitch.
The political system is all about looking for fresh blood, the kill.

Some of these old coot senators might have survived through the shitfest  ethically.
many will be corrupt no doubt.

Fresh blood also means Sarah Palin as well.

There are plenty of very ambitious self serving idiots in every age group.

Sarah's doing every move she can to position herself as the GOP candidate in 2012 (i.e., getting herself out there now, putting out a book, speaking, being on Fox, just pissing off Liberals in general  ;) ).

I think it's a safe bet to think she'll be on the ticket, I'm just not sure for which spot.

Mike Huckabee has also done a good job of getting noticed (but with far less whining and moaning by the Left).

As for the Democrats?  They're in complete chaos right now.  I doubt they will be able to do anything except put Obama back out there (but probably with the Hillary beast as VP).
At this point, the system corrupts the person, rather than the person corrupting the system.

So it's kinda like racism.....it will take many years to fix and young blood, such as Obama as President, will only be a step in the right direction......not a fix.

I think a good option would be to make every office held, President included, Congressmen etc....have to be re-elected every 4 years. Vote every 4 years for President, Gov., etc., including members of congress. Every one of them. Unlimited terms, but they have to be elected every 4 years. That way, people like President Clinton, who was still young and very capable could continue being President and hopefully the successful with longer terms could bring more stability and unity accross the world and America. It would also be a way to hold people accountable for their actions and lack of actions.

Right now, I think it's fucked up!
I voted for Obama. I don't know if I'd ever vote for a Democrat again after this. It would take something stupid like McCain and Palin to get me to do it again, probably.

The Dems are just fucking insane right now.

My opinion....

Charger-President
Tripper-VP
Hook-Secretary of Defense

Why me on the defense thing? Simple. I'll just sit back, roll a fat one and do what the big boys tell me. Fuck it! ;D

We need to bring in Stratman for Animal control. He'll have to learn to hate dogs though. ;D
Sarah Palin as president.,
Anne Coulter as VP
With constellation of sage advisers from talk news and radio to make up the adminstration.

That will cure the system - much like death cures cancer.

Maybe, but think of the girl-on-girl fantasies the Secret Service men would have!  :D ;D

how did you take that to mean i wouldn't vote? i said i wasn't voting for any incumbents. as in "i'll vote for newcomers only..."
So you would vote for someone with similar experience as Obama? I'm proud of you.

I was in a hurry when I read your post, sorry for the confusion on my part.

their isn't a candidate on the field right now that has the qualifications to be president. still 2-3 years away though...
What are the qualifications to be president?

The problem with republicans is they favour ignorant unqualified homey candidates to spout party demagoguery.
Candidates that  reflect an instinct for simplistic analysis and crass solutions in the party base.
All swallowed with an overdose of cartoon patriotic allusions.

John McCain was a break with that pattern -until they added Sarah Palin to balance up the ticket on the "ignorant simpleton" score.

the most important quality of being president is to be smart and knowledgeable enough to sift through advice to make decisions to navigate through a morass where there is no simplistic right answer - only a balance of probabilities.

If you are looking for simplistic answers and a leader to provide them - you are looking for GOD.

Wait! - the republican party is all about GOD isn't it.

Inveterate demagogues that they are.

You kidding me?  Her unfavorables are way too high. She's done a good job positioning herself as ultra-conservative, but everyone already knew she was that.  Abandoning the Alaska governership "because she couldn't get anything done" after two years is weak as fuck.  Imagine what she will do in Washington, where people really can't get anything done.  I would bet you any piece of gear you own that she won't be on the ticket.  Although, I would be thrilled if she was.  That would be like a Reagan vs. Mondale type of win for Obama.

Huckabee is going nowhere fast.  Granting clemency to a prisoner who then goes and shoots and kills four police officers would be the end for anyone.  Imagine the ads that would run 24/7.  His presidential aspirations are over.

The Republicans need an Obama... someone young and charismatic who can talk a little and isn't a right-wing nutjob.  Pawlenty is the guy I would look at.  Of course, Republicans are so ridiculously hampered by the hard right that who knows if they can pick anyone they agree on.
The problem with Republicans is that Religion is there strong point, and their weak point. Not sure I want to take a chance on another "God told me to" fucker or not either. ;D

I think Sarah made a fool of herself. Her days are over. How the fuck she made it through journalism school, I'll never know.

It would be like me trying to teach a spelling class. ;D ;D
