interesting read, don't know what is real and what isn't though
Don't need to read it
AIG is the ground zero of this crisis.

The ratings agencies are corrupt as well,

Very surprised they haven't been hauled over the coals.

They blessed this shit as AAA  rubber stamping the  AIG role of insuring a multi trillion real estate market from losses.

It is and was  a farce.

Jail time might go higher than you think though -a scam of this nature had to have political cover
The last administration would be hauled over the coals.

That is why you will see no action.
I read the article - lots of total self serving political BS

the CDS market hasn't been going for decades.
It started in the late 90's and only grew into humungous size over the Bush years.

Anyone who tells you different is lying.

Yes ALL this  shit happened under a republican adminstration.

Nice to see they give Obama an inclusive  role - seeing as he has only been President for 3m and no doubt on the writers other  blogs he will be claiming "who is this guy Obam - he is an unknown"

not so unknown to him that he is jointly repsonsible with Bush for the financial fiasco.

The politics of this is desperate and pathetic.

Give Obama a break and crucify him in 4 years time when he is actually accountable for decisions and actions he made.

Partisan republican slippery fuckers like that never take responsibility.

That is the problem with AIG  in a nutshell - greedy fucks make money and hand the problems onto the innocent to pay for them - financially and politically.

Investigate them and see which politicos and parties these fucks had hands up ass doing their puppet act for them.

It won't happen as for the current administration of whatever party the problem they are presented with will not be solved by seeking out those responsible as it will likely involve Bush himself or his high level cronies at least.

That could lead to a crisis of confidence that would surely bring the edifice down.

So expect nothing but low level apparatchiks being persecuted and ritually flayed.

Yeah, that's what bothers me more than anything. No one was watching, and those who were charged to watch looked the other way.

The last administration would be hauled over the coals.

Really? By whom? The press? Nope. That's a right-wing myth, quite obviously, because if they had done their job effectively, and not pussied out under pressure, the American people might have realized how much they had just been fucked long before any of this happened.

More like "The last administration SHOULD be hauled over the coals." No one has, and I fear no one will, because we're "all trying to move on." So those pieces of shit will get away with fucking this country (and others) over in every way conceivable.

That is why you will see no action.

You think this administration's getting a pass? Yeah, the GOP is being really helpful to Obama these days...creating and spreading myths about the budget, like the myth that it's a lot larger than other recent budgets, and that taxes are going to skyrocket, both of which are TOTAL BULLSHIT, fear-mongering about a coming socialist dictatorship, etc. It's just fucking retarded, and typical modern right-wing crap - deflect from the real issues with a bunch of non-issues. If the dipshit Democrats in Congress weren't being as sanctimonious and diversionary about it all, I might have a modicum of respect for them. But they haven't earned it.

I'm as worried about all this as anyone, but I'm not going to forget which bastards (both D and R) and what sort of ideology got us into this mess.

And it's not socialism...
