priceless.
just in case you don't remember what he campaigned on here's a refresher course...
I can make a firm pledge. Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes.
--Candidate Barack Obama, Sept. 12, 2008
If your family earns less than $250,000 a year, you will not see your taxes increased a single dime. I repeat: not one single dime.
--President Barack Obama, Feb. 24, 2009
The statement didnt come with caveats.
--Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs, April 15, 2009, when asked if the pledge applies to healthcare
BS. None of those things listed on that card are actually tax increases. And if you wanted to stretch the definition of taxes to include healthcare, the individual mandate doesn't even go into effect until 2014.
Therefore... you are wrong.
Again.
Do you take your tea with milk or lemon?
you must truly have blind faith to maintain that doesn't constitute a new tax. how about this tax
http://money.cnn.com/2010/03/24/news/economy/tanning_tax/
no way around that one. or we could talk about income taxes which will rise to these new levels
- The 10% bracket rises to an expanded 15%
- The 25% bracket rises to 28%
- The 28% bracket rises to 31%
- The 33% bracket rises to 36%
- The 35% bracket rises to 39.6%
or the return of the "death tax" that kicks in in january
or the capital gains tax going up to 20%
or the dividends tax going from 15% to 39%
or we can go to "obama care" and all the fun taxes it involves. check them out here
http://www.atr.org/userfiles/040510pr-totalhealthtaxes.pdf
and if this source is too "partisan" than the government spells them out less cleanly here

guess that makes you wrong doesn't it? i'll take my tea plain thank you

Title IX Revenue ProvisionsSubtitle A: Revenue Offset
"(Sec. 9002) Requires employers to include in the W-2 form of each employee the aggregate cost of applicable employer-sponsored group health coverage
that is excludable from the employee's gross income (excluding the value of contributions to flexible spending arrangements)."
guess what, your health insurance is now taxable income. add that to the list
A) I'd be surprised if any of those "taxes" are allowed to return to their previous percentages. Although, I think the capital gains tax at 15% has always been a crock of shit. Why the hell should I pay 28% on my income, and then some rich fuck who makes a billion dollars on investments only pays 15%? Fuck that. And the dividends tax rate going up to 39%? What you neglected to mention is that to pay that rate, you'd have to be in a tax bracket of 33%. Do you have any idea how much money you'd have to make to be in that bracket? More than 99% of the country earns. You go fight for the rich. It's real profitable... for them.
Besides... are dividends and capital gains not income? I fail to see that argument at all. It's money you make. Who cares how you make it? These are hard-fought concessions won by a bunch of rich fucking bankers over a period of years and years... the same people who feel so much love for us that they had no problem bringing our economy to its knees so they could make a few extra mil. Cry for someone who matters, not some waste of humanity.
B) If you think the Bush tax cuts are going to be allowed to expire, they won't. That's just too unpopular. Obama will not make the tough choice that he should, and let them expire. Instead, we'll got those tax cuts back, and probably even more. And we'll never pay off our debt. But at least you'll be happy you get to keep your money. It'll be about as useful as Nero's fiddle, but you'll get to keep it.
B) As far as tanning taxes go, good. Tax the shit out of it. To me it's like cigarettes. Tanning booths cause cancer, there is a provable and clear link. just like smoking. So tax that shit to pay for it. Why not? You've got a degree in nutrition--what do you think happens to people who have cancer? You think that's some cheap and easy thing to treat?
D) "Death tax". Oh, boo hoo. You get a $3.5 million exemption on that. Poor you. You inherited $3.6 million, but you had to pay $28,000 in taxes on the $100,000 that was over $3.5 million. I know you can't see them, but these are real tears I'm crying here. And oh yeah--you live in Kentucky. A state that taxes both estates and inheritances. Is that Obama's fault too?
E) Speaking of which, you know what there should be a tax on? Stupid terminology. "Death tax." "Death panels." "Obamacare." "Tea party." "Whining." Oh, sorry, I don't think that last one is in there.
We live in the richest industrialized nation in the world, and have the lowest tax rates of any industrialized nation, but you'd be hard pressed to know that, if all you see is the news from the right wing-dominated media.

how can you fail to see the connection?
Correlation is not necessarily causation.
US isn't the richest country per capita either
I'm already tax exempt. It happens when your income is $0.00. :-/

the idea that taxation is the key to our economic salvation is insulting. it does look unavoidable at this point however

are you really that out of touch with the rest of America out there in cali?
We could post articles and studies refuting each others claims all day, and get nowhere. Bottom line, I have watched plenty of news and there is certainly no liberal bias I have seen. What I see on the news is a range of coverage from moderately left to hard right. I have never, ever seen truly strongly left, liberal news covered anywhere. There are mild left-leaning media. But the right wing viewpoints are so much further right than the left, that it far more than balances out, and in fact swings IMO way right. Look at the news coverage today. Have you seen a positive article about a liberal or Democrat in the last two years? That all ended as soon as the inaugural glow was over. My god, it's like reading propaganda from the height of the Russian revolution when I look at the news now--all slanted to the right.
the bottom line is taxes are going up. i was trying to illustrate that obama is just another politician, lies and all

obama was given carte blanche when he started the job. not my fault he hung himself with his teleprompter cord

Man I hate taxes. Period. The necessary evil.
What I'd like to see is a flat tax. Get rid of the IRS. Get rid of all the tax holes the rich love so much. I think that would be fair. Or, could be fair, put it that way.
Taxes will have to go up. I'd be really surprised if the Bush tax cuts remained in effect. But more taxes is not the fucking problem or the fix. The problem is government growth. Bush grew the government and Obama is staying on the same road. It's simply out of control. The more money the government brings in the more it spends. The government could never have enough money. They are the drunken sailor. And when they need money right now, they just print it or borrow it. they don't give a damn about our country. They only care about winning in the political chess board. Fuck em all. (politicians)

I hate to have to give you a history lesson on something that happened only two years ago, but here goes.
1. Which president passed the TARP bill? I'll make it super easy, and make it multiple choice.
a) GW Bush
b) GW Bush
c) GW Bush
d) All of the above
How did you do on today's quiz? If you answered a, b, c, or d, you got the right answer, and you are now fully qualified to engage in this discussion.
Also, if you were paying attention, you saw that the new economic r4eg. bill actually DOES start to address their bullshit. Which is why chase is so mad. But I'm guessing you are not following it.
I was just kidding around. But, no....everything is not Bush's fault. And...some things are Obama's fault.
I'd rather just give you the correct answers rather than throw out a question because I see your answer will always be to defend the libs, and especially Obama, at all cost. ;D
You may continue. ;D
The Libs...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Obama is a liberal... news to me. I'll party in the streets the day we elect a liberal president.
Why didn't you vote for McCain then? ;D
What about bathtub boy and the girly man sidekick? Are they libs? ;D
And now that you mentioned it, what the hell is Obama? How would you describe him?
A schoolboy who wants to turn in his assignments.

He's a centrist who's actuallly a little right-leaning. If you think he's liberal, you don't know what liberal is. Granted, we don't have liberals in this country like they do in Europe, so you've probably never seen one, or wouldn't understand what one is. Here's a handy chart.
http://www.politicalcompass.org/uselection2008
I am in that lower left quadrant.
While Cynthia McKinney and Ralph Nader are depicted on the extreme left in an American context, they would simply be mainstream social democrats within the wider political landscape of Europe. Similarly, Obama is popularly perceived as a leftist in the United States while elsewhere in the west his record is that of a moderate conservative.

I disagree. I think what they are getting through is decent, but not excellent. Given that we live in the USA, and there has never been a really excellent bill passed in my political lifetime, that's about what I was expecting. It's not what we would want in the best of all possible worlds, which doesn't exist. After all, there are those 40 Republicans in there who do not want it in any way, shape, or form. But it's a very good start.

Yeah, but I doubt McCain would have fucked the country up like Obama seems to be. He just looked bad on camera and couldn't touch Obama's speech making ability. That seems all he's capable of doing is making pretty speeches.

Yeah, Obama fucked up the country.
What alternate universe are you living in?
That would be the Fox Nation alternative universe ;D
I'm interested to learn how the country is fucked up, and how Obama made it that way.
Obama caused the deficit and the wars and the financial fubar and the recession.
He took over when all was rosy under the wise management of Dubya.
After Obama, It will require the wisdom of a great president like Sarah Palin to mend things.
But that will take years in a democracy - people need to rise up through force of arms and take the country back to 2008 when all was rosy.
Before Obama, there was no deficit. The budget was balanced and lean. There were no wars in Afgahnistan or Iraq. There were no financial crises. There was no oil spill. Everybody was rich, fat, and happy--hell, even the poor people were rich, fat, and happy.
Now look at us.
All Obama's fault.
Amazing that more news organizations haven't picked up on it.
funny thing about these conservatives, they didnt seem to whine when bush and paulson were giving money to banks now all of sudden its a problem.. hahahahahah fucking douche bags.
The people are still mostly fat - just not rich and happy with pretend wealth.
The lesson is this - the only thing you can depend on is a big mac and fries.
It's like one of them aesop fables
written by foreigners before the earth was created by gawd. :P
What has Obama done that makes sense?
Healthcare reform-No, people will still be without insurance, a lot of people. The price quoted will most likely be 2 or 3 times lower than actual cost based on other government program quotes. And ahh, most of the country didn't want the shit in the first place, but who cares right?
Oil Spill response-Absolutely pitiful. Everything done after 70 plus days, should have been done the first week. Most things were offered and the government just refused, I guess.
Spend money like hell-Done a fine job here. Gave a pretty speech that most countries disagree with and pretty much said fuck you Obama. But, he is smarter than the rest of the world I guess. Most countries want to cut spending, he wants to increase spending. Hmmmmm. Hero or a 0, I guess.
Please give me an accomplishment of Obama's. Something good for the country, not just a political win.
I know, his "yes we can" chant disappeared faster than McCain's soul.
At least he's given the "conservatives" the opportunity to show how truly lazy and creepy they can be on a daily basis.
