The Watering Hole

OK, am I the only one who thought this would be at least entertaining?

Obama deserves to win at this point just because the Republicans are so fucking boring.  Even Ron Paul was boring.  I expected a little bit of excitement, some nutty tea party Michelle Bachman crap, and someone to even acknowledge Mitt Romney's healthcare bill and/or Mormonism.

Nothing.

Warm, happy thoughts from a bunch of boring conservatives.  Even the Godfather's pizza guy was boring as fuck.

Ugh.
There's been some reporting in the press here.

Pretty much said the same thing - at this point in the beauty contest they were all responding to the question.

"How bad is that Obamanation - and what would you do to recover from  the destruction of America Obama had brought upon us financially ?"

It's comic  - but it makes sense for republicans to go through a process of "healing" in public.

Lose some of the whackier wing candidates in the earlier primaries - then the few that are left can make a case.

Palin won't run ever - she is unelectable - she has everything going for her,  but unfortunately her  brain let's her down.
She is a cheerleader who is trying to run the football team.

No one doubts her commitment to the team, just - stick to the pom poms

Ron Paul is the only genuinely  interesting dude.

I don't disagree with him as much as I would have expected when he was brought up by chase in past discussions.

But his belief - religious level of belief - in any human system of government economically or political is where I part company.

Sometimes you are fitting square pegs into round holes - and reality always  trumps belief in the end.
A President has to use judgement to do the right thing - not stubbornly stick to theory.

And I don't think he has the flexibilty to resist applying theory and be pragmatic.

But the guy has substance and would be an interesting candidate.

Not rediculous tea party - not even traditional right wing family values  - but  a shout from the genuine libertarian wing of the Pubs.
What about this Rick Perry dude? I hear great things about the shape of Texas, low debt and damn good job growth. I haven't read about him yet, just wondering if it's typical support the repub shit or if theirs some truth to his good numbers.
The Republicans have hopefuls?

Maybe they need a candidate that would feel at home next to Weiner or Boner?  How about Red Bollocks?  ;)

Rick Perry is a bimbo corporate shill who is basically George W. Bush with better looks and the ability to speak (sort of). The only reason he got reelected last time was because he pussed out and wouldn't face his challenger in a debate (therefore not having to face any real questions about his mostly bad performance as governor). Well, that and his challenger was really ugly, Texans are mostly more ignorant than the average American, and he lied CONSTANTLY in his campaign ads.

And he's one of the people who took a big pile of stimulus money and then denounced the stimulus while it created a PILE of jobs for Texas. He's also killed our budget with his bad ideas and corporate giveaways.

Basically, he's a dirtbag, and I hope he quits to run for President so we can be rid of his ass...

P.S. Tell you how I really feel, right? ;)
;D ;D

Damn. Remind me not to mention him in a post.  ;D
Trip's dead on about Perry.  Check him out, pretty much a carbon copy of W.
Not sure I need to now Binge. ;D
Is that because you now know he is your kind of guy ?
No. I haven't read anything about him. I just heard fox news going on and on about him. I suspected their were ghost in the closet. I'm not going to bother until we have 2 candidates for President. then I'll do research before I vote.
Perry's not running is he?
Too bad no Jeb Bush... the decent Bush.  Name tarnished forever by his idiot brother.
No, not as of now. He's thinking about. Fox seems to like him a bit.

I lived in Florida and had Jeb as my state's governor for a while. Much better person than his brother, much smarter, more studied, and more reasonable. More like his father, actually...still a little too connected to the "corporatocracy" for my taste, though.

But yeah, unelectable because his name is Bush.

Oh yeah, and after I posted this, Rachel Maddow* explained on her show why Perry and the GOP people pushing him are full of baloney about his record in Texas. Heavy facts-based rebuttal - I was proud to see it on a national show. Too bad Fox viewers will still be fed all the horseshit about how great things are down here. They aren't "most misinformed" in all the polls for nothing!

* - I know how much you LOVE her, Hook... ;)

I don't like the attitude on that show. Her smartness gets taken way down with her arrogant smart ass attitude, in my opinion. I don't dislike her or hate her, I don't know her, why should I? And that's probably what "they" think keeps people watching.

However, I do respect the content of her points much more so than the idiots on Fox. Keith O., well, that guy makes me really fucking sick. He's gone now, right??? I don't know that I hate him, but I wouldn't want to meet him to find out, put it that way. ;D
The corporatocracy is just a fact of life in the presidency.  Even Obama, of the hope and change, will not do anything serious to harm business.  That is life.  No one who is actually a populist and believes in the common man and the greatness of people will ever be elected president in this country unless we have a serious economic meltdown and revert to a simpler lifestyle.

If Jeb Bush wasn't named Bush, I think he could beat Obama.  Maybe one of these other clowns can to.  I am definitely hoping for the dream ticket of Bachmann/Palin though.  I think that would be absolute comedy and entertainment gold for months and months.

I think it's funny you see her this way. She loves how silly it all gets, and has a very nerdy sense of humor that kind of reminds me of the smart people I know. I think the arrogance comment is especially confusing. She's pretty demure the vast majority of the time. She's also by far one of the politest interviewers (while still asking tough questions) on TV. But I guess because she is so strong in making her points it can come off as arrogant. I don't know anyone else like that... ;)

Keith has a new show on Current TV that's similar to his old show but with less of a filter. His snark factor is up quite a bit so far. I find it enjoyable, but annoying visually because it's in standard definition (HD has spoiled me).

Both of them have vastly more journalistic credibility than any of the pundits and newsreaders at Fox. Shit, even comedian Jon Stewart has more journalistic credibility than Fox. ;)

True...but it would be nice to have someone who isn't afraid to stand up to the shills in the Republican party and tell them, "no, fuckers...taxes are going back up to Clinton-era levels because that doesn't actually hurt the economy - having taxes as low as we had them did that".

Truly would be an idiot parade...probably set women back about 50 years if that happened... :)
