...the Republicans.

This approach has not simply made a mockery of traditional party ideals. It has also led to the serial financial bubbles and Wall Street depredations that have crippled our economy. More specifically, the new policy doctrines have caused four great deformations of the national economy, and modern Republicans have turned a blind eye to each one.

The author might surprise you...

David Stockman, a director of the Office of Management and Budget under President Ronald Reagan, is working on a book about the financial crisis.
Thanks again.
Let's be clear here.  Every politician runs on tax cuts.  And people are stupid, and believe there is essentially something wonderful about tax cuts.  It's simple bribery.  Obama ran on tax cuts, and McCain ran on tax cuts.  The only difference between them is that Obama was willing to sacrifice the 1% of the vote that makes more than 250k a year.  It's a bad habit.  But I believe it's been misguided policy that has totally fucked us.

There IS something wonderful about tax cuts, if the government was run correctly.  You have two scenarios:

1)  People keep more of their money and decide for themselves how best to spend it

2)  The government keeps more of the people's money and spends it however they wish

Since we already know the government doesn't have a clue how to be financially responsible, #1 is by far the correct path.  Unfortunately, the current generation has been brought up to believe that the 'ol Gov. should take care of them so, instead of getting the most for their money, they let the Government make decisions for them and much of the money's potential is wasted.

The biggest reason we have major issues right now is that the people no longer have the wisdom to handle option #1 and the government doesn't really care for the people, only their own causes, so only a small portion of the money taken in by taxing gets spent in a way that benefits the population as a whole.  Of course, much of this has come about because the government has pushed to dumb down the public and make them reliant, and the other, to a lesser degree, has come from the prior generation who tried too hard to insulate their children from the "real world" so they wouldn't have to work as hard as they did.
hmmmmm, i thought the gov borrowed a buncha bread...

and who are these generations you're talking about, the great one and the lazy one?  S'funny I saw a show on FOX where they blamed this meltdown and recession on the "spoiled hippies" who's parents "tried too hard to insulate their children from the "real world" so they wouldn't have to work as hard as they did".   Fuckin' ingrates those hippies are!  THEY DESTROYED THIS WONDERLAND!!!!!

The Neidermeyers weren't mentioned tho...

DAMN THESE OUTRAGEOUS TAXES ON THE CURRENT HOLDERS OF THE WEALTH!!!!  If only it was like the good old days...
