Or is he thinking at all? Obama rejects McCain's invite to Washington? He is playing right into the hands of McCain. His campaign manager needs to be fired or Obama should just say it...."fuck it, I give up"," I'm confused". ;D

He is blowing his own chances with hardhead ignorance, imo.

he h ehh   The topic kinda sounds like you're talking about yourself.

What's McCain gunna do, convince some republicans to vote for it?  What's McCain thinking trying to delay the debate?
I liked Obama's reply as to why he won't stop his campaign..."I think a President should be able to do more than one thing at a time"
McCain has tried to have debates with Obama for some time, Obama refused.

McCain is putting country first, haven't you heard? ;D

I think it was a great move. However, now I hear that Obama has changed his mind. I guess this one gets killed before it's started. ;D ;D

Did you hear Bush say..."the market isn't functioning properly"...wonder who told him that? ;D ;D

I thought that was pretty funny.

I think a senator shoud be capable to vote yes or no too. What does present mean? ;D It's your birthday??? Or Christmas??? ;D

Kinda like the QB for LSU getting hit in the head and the trainers ask him how many fingers were being held up and the QB answers, Thursday. ;D ;D

A better question is, what is McCain thinking?  That the world won't go on unless he is in Washington?  That the Senate needs his oh-so-deep economic expertise to craft the bailout plan?  Or that it would be nice to get some "Mr. McCain Goes to Washington" publicity shots, with McCain sitting a room, looking befuddled while he tries to figure out how the hell to make it look like he knows something about the economy, and wasn't a massive supporter of deregulation for the last 20+ years?

Hook, voting "present" is a pretty common thing in the Illinois state legislature, from what I've read.  It allows the legislator to register an objection to a bill that they otherwise might support, and has numerous other uses.  Obama voted over 4000 times and voted present about 100... that's about 2% of his votes.  This is really a non-issue turned into an issue by the right-wing press... someone once said something about making this "a big election about small things"...

Actually, these debates have been scheduled for some time... not sure what you are talking about.

Read the timeline, and then you tell me who is acting in a bipartisan fashion and who is trying to play the crisis for political gain.
Hilarious.

"We now have between House and Senate Democrats an agreement on what we think should be in the bill, and we have a meeting scheduled at 10 a.m. tomorrow to meet with the Republicans," said Frank, chairman of the House of Representatives Financial Services Committee.

Proponents of a rescue plan have expressed hope that a bill could be delivered to Bush within days.

While the Bush administration had asked Congress for $700 billion for an unprecedented Wall Street bailout, Frank said that amount might not be delivered all at once.

"One tranche doesn't work," he said, adding that "safeguards" were needed.

Frank said there would be tough congressional oversight of as well as limits on compensation packages for executives of companies that receive federal relief.

The Massachusetts senator said a limited number of details still had to be resolved, but thought it could be done quickly. These matters involved bankruptcy protections for families on the verge of losing their homes and giving the government a return on its money if the company being helped prospers.

Frank took a dig at Republican presidential nominee John McCain, who interrupted his campaign to return to Washington on Thursday to help work on a Wall Street bailout.

"All of sudden, now that we are on the verge of making a deal, John McCain here drops himself in to help us make a deal, Frank said.

He expressed fear that McCain, a U.S. senator from Arizona who has spent much of the year away from the Capitol campaigning, could end up slowing down work on the bill.

The Massachusetts Democrat noted that a meeting on Capitol Hill on Thursday will be interrupted for a "photo op" at the White House with congressional Democrats and Republicans as well as Bush.

"We're trying to rescue the economy, not the McCain campaign," Frank said.

"Earlier today it became clear to me we would get the votes to pass this bill," Frank told CNBC in an earlier interview. He said it could take a few days to craft final legislation.

What is McCain thinking saying Rick Davis quit taking Fannie money years ago when he was taking some last month?

Did ya see the Palin witchcraft vid Hook?    What the hell is McCain thinking? ;D ;D
Isn't it kinda funny that McCain says he's going to Washington to do his job at a time of huge crises in the U.S., invites Obama to join him, Obama refuses and says Bush can call him at anytime if he's needed....hours later, Bush calls him and tells him to get his ass to Washington and do your fucking job. ;D ;D ;D Who's gonna make him do his job when he's President?  ;D

Such drama. Damn.
put them all in jail! :o

McCain is playing politics with this - simply seeking to evade a public debate and have his economic credentials to be president examined,.

Neither Bush nor McCain are in any position to be  telling Obama what he should be doing in the this crisis.

Did you read the timeline?  Obama--showing his ability to do things in a bipartisan manner--called McCain in the morning, said, "let's put out a joint statement."  McCain called back 6 hours later, said, OK.  Then McCain went out instead of putting out the statement with Obama, and called an impromptu press conference to announced the suspension of his campaign.  He's playing politics with the crisis because his poll numbers have slipped, while at the same time snubbing Obama because he's bitter that Obama came to HIM with the idea of a joint statement.

McCain is pulling a desperation move to swing poll numbers.  How well it works depends on how many undecided voters in the electorate are as gullible as you.
It's not clear what, exactly, McCain is going to do in Washington. He doesn't sit on any of the relevant committees, and everyone is already deep in negotiations. Still, he's coming anyway. It doesn't make much logical sense. The only way to understand it is politically: In a presidential campaign, the surest sign that a candidate is playing politics on an issue is when he claims not to be playing politics on an issue. The only way for McCain to convince everyone that his intentions are 100 percent pure is for him to drop out of the race completely. A campaign doesn't end—and its distracting affects don't disappear—just because one candidate says so.

It's hard to believe that McCain's actions would pass his own laugh test. In fact, he's often snickered at his fellow senators who come in at the eleventh hour to lend a hand after McCain has done the hard work. But the McCain campaign is past caring about how journalists (or colleagues) view his moves. He hopes the rest of the country will see this as a leadership moment.

BULLSHIT!

Even though McCain said he had to suspend his campaign and rush back to Washington, he stayed in New York on Thursday morning to give a speech to former President Bill Clinton's Global Initiative meeting.

Oh look.  McCain's not even in Washington yet, and they've already got it figured out.  Glad he's going to be able to ride into town and shake them up, and in the process, save the day!

What a maverick!

McCain has gambled and made himself look like a dickhead.

He clearly panics under pressure and makes snap decisions.
Even when he's not under pressure, he makes snap decisions.  There's only one guarantee with a snap decision--that it is fast.  Not necessarily right, or even smart.
Calm down Rambo. I was only joking around. Shit man.

McCain is clearly playing around trying to look good. The real person who fucked this up for McCain is Bush by calling Obama and asking him to join. And McCain said he was gonna speak at the Clinton thingy in his original press conference. Obama and McCain are suppose to arrive tonight or late this afternoon. Can't the fucker stop and eat a decent lunch somewhere? ;D Like Paris or something? ;D

Obama isn't in a big hurry either it seems....I guess he had to go pray with Rev. Wright before seeing the President. ;D ;D You know Father fuckhead through a shoulder out of socket while preaching in Chicago. He may have visited him before the President....yeah, that's it. ;D ;D ;D He stoped by the hospital to see Father fuckhead. I also heard he picked up $10 to $20,000 from his adviser....travel change ya know. ;D ;D

Damn Hookie!  Now you're even starting to post like Rudy!  ::)
McCain bit it big on this one.  Sat there at the table, by most reliable accounts, for 43 minutes before he even said a word.  He can't even get his fellow Republicans to support the deal.  How the hell is he going to lead a Democratic congress effectively?  What a fucking mess.
The last I heard he sat and listened to what the hell was going on. He was being informed. I think this decision deserves a 43 minute thinking time out, don't you? Is there something wrong with being advised of the situation now? Damn man. And the repubs that were against this were against it from the start. They have a problem with tax payers having to bail out these big companies, among other things. So do I!

Make up your mind.  First you think it's urgent that everyone rush to Washington and suspend their campaigns (and BTW, McCain's "suspension" is nonexistent--he's done like five interviews, Palin is still out there, and he is still running TV ads) and work on a quick proposal to fix the economy.  Then, when McCain sits around like the old, dumb post he is and does nothing, and can't get any support, and can't come up with an alternative, you think that's perfectly okay?

Nothing says "tool" like your posts of the last two days.

Let me explain the obvious to you. Unlike Stratman, when I post and state something and it's ended with laughing symbols, that means I'm not serious. You know, joking. Now, go back and re-read those post with that in mind.

And I think it would be hard to be a tool when I've clearly stated that if I vote at all, it would be for Obama. It is Obama's opportunity to earn my vote during these debates. If he does, I'll vote for him, if not I won't vote at all. That clear enough?

And no Trip, I'm not drunk and wasn't drunk at 7am in the morning. And I'm not embarrassed at all to have a different take on stuff than the bleeding heart liberals that consume the political arena here.
Bleeding heart liberal is a far right wing term isn't it?
Well, I'm a tool. I change definitions to please myself. ;D

But no, you are incorrect.
How am I incorrect?

As ar as I can tell,it is a derogotory term(made into a derogatory term by the right) used by the right wing.
A "label " conservatives use to poke fun of Dems.

Rush and Ann Coulter use it in a derogatory way.

McCain used it(liberal) in a derogatory way last night in the debates calling Obama the most liberal senator.

In what way are you using it? What does it mean to you?
It's used to describe liberals by conservitives. Your right. My brain quit working a second there. But as a tool, I reserve the right to change it's meaning at will. ;D
I think "Libbers" would have more impact.
I prefer to use the term "Idiots on the left" which helps differentiate them from the "Idiots on the right."  ;)
"Clown to the left of me Jokers to the right. Here I am stuck in the middle with you!"

Are "they" both bleeding heart liberals and extreme liberals or only extreme liberals ?

Definitive clarification please!

I haven't seen any "bleeding-heart" liberals here. I have seen a lot of them that understand the value of certain liberal policies, but like Obama, understand that help is only given to those who want to work for it.

"Bleeding-heart" liberals are morons, and there are very few of them in existence in positions of power.

And yes, that is 100% a right-wing smear term. Denying that is denying reality...something at which you're becoming quite adept.
