Ooh, more "gotcha journalism" by the "biased, liberal media."

COURIC: When it comes to establishing your worldview, I was curious, what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this to stay informed and to understand the world?

PALIN: I've read most of them, again with a great appreciation for the press, for the media.

COURIC: What specifically?

PALIN: Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years.  I have a vast variety of sources where we get our news, too. Alaska isn’t a foreign country, where it's kind of suggested, 'Wow, how could you keep in touch with what the rest of Washington, D.C., may be thinking when you live up there in Alaska?' Believe me, Alaska is like a microcosm of America.
She's not lying, she just firmly believes that there are only three newspapers out there and she reads ALL of those.  ;) :D
You'd think she'd know what the Bush Doctrine is if she reads ALL the magazines and newspapers. :D:D

What she really meant was that she didn't read ANY of them, but she perceived Katie's question as some sort of "gotcha", which is why she put in that canard about "appreciation for the media". She felt pressure, and buckled. If she's ever the president of this country (through death or rampant idiocy), I'm going to smack every person I meet who voted for her. Every single one.

Honestly, how fucking hard can it be to name ONE newspaper and ONE magazine?

The Los Angeles (Times/Examiner). Time.  The New York (Times/Post/Sun/Daily News).  Newsweek.  The Chicago (Tribune/Sun-Times).  Frigging People.  The Washington Post.
She couldn't because she only reads the comics posted above a urinal (yeah, that has a second thought to it, doesn't it? ;) ).  ;D
Tomorrow night should be real entertaining on her part, and informative on Bidens part.
I for one am looking forward to it.  The Republicans are starting to spin this as a good format for her--all short answers, as opposed to the longer, 5-minute answers.  But I think neither format really plays to her strengths (and before you ask, I think those strengths are: looking pretty, and winning races in Alaska).  For one thing, she's going to have to answer a whole fucking LOT of questions in 90 minutes... at least 30, and possibly as many as 40 of them.   I think Biden will have no problem with that; he's amassed a great deal of knowledge on a wide range of topics over time.  But clearly, Palin has not had a whole lot of intellectual curiosity in her lifetime, and tomorrow is going to lay that bare--I doubt there are even thirty topics relating to national politics that she can think of, let alone hold forth on.

Whether she comes off as sympathetic because of that is another question.
I can't wait. I see they are already making excuses for her to. There saying on cnn that she's had to digest alot of info in a short time, she's being ask to be prepared in 2 only months, etc.

I can't help but to want to cheer for the underdog. ;D Not that she could change my mind or anything.

Should be pretty interesting!!

Really??!  Was she on a team for the Iditarod??? :D ;D

Whoops!  She can't name another Supreme Court that she disagrees with, besides Roe v. Wade.

What the fuck.

Remember when Ted Stevens (also from Alaska) described the internet as a series of tubes?

Maybe it's the cold up there.
They also said she was a quick study, and don't under estiminate her. I think they is the two guys she ran agaist to become govonor. She sure hasn't shown any sign of being a quick study so far. ;D

They keep saying that. But then again, they (inlcuding McCain PERSONALLY) also called her an energy expert, and she showed repeatedly that she actually knew very little about it, despite their claims.

We shall see. I think she appeals to dumb people who are distracted by shiny objects.

Republican partisans who defend her candidacy are shameful, in my opinion. They had so many other much more capable candidates for vice-president, even among GOP women - Kay Bailey Hutchison comes to mind, being here in Texas - but there are so many more so much more qualified to be the second fiddle (and first, if necessary).

She seems to me like some sort of Evangelical right manchurian candidate - like if they pull it off, some christian wacko will off McCain so she can be president.

As for the modern GOP, Lincoln's spinning so hard in his grave he's going to dig his way to China.

"They" did say that.  However, I have watched some of those debates on Youtube, and her two opponents for Alaska Governor only lend more evidence to my hypothesis that Alaska is not a land of political genius.  Those guys were about as dull as it gets.
I think it's legal (and expected) in Alaska to body check your opponent into the boards during debates.  ;)

(Actually, I'd like to see this! :D )
A Jerry Springer style debate would be good for this one I think - with bouncers jumping in to restrain first dood.
