Anyone see a possibility of change with all the politicians from the past at the mans side?

Fuck.

Of course, some did a good job woth Clinton!

Maybe adultry will become legal this time. ;D ;D Bad joke, I know! ;D
So...
Before the election, you talked about his lack of experience, and now, you would him to nominate unexperienced people ?????
Wow - No position for the reverend Wright - what's up with that,

He has an almost 50/50 mix of old and new so far, with a lot of extraordinarily capable people from outside Washington politics.

I say that's progress right there...

I think Obama has it tougher than any President-elect since FDR in 1932, by far, and so far, he's been EXCELLENT.

Tripper
Well, not so sure I see a lot of change coming from his nominations.

But it's his decision. He knows what needs to be done and changed. If he thinks he can accomplish that with these people, so be it! I truely hope he's successful!

I think talking Gates into hanging around was an excellent move. Even though he's a republican, he's one of the few that seemed to get through Bush's hard head that he was failing and things needed changing.
He is appointing people of any political stripe based on the skills and experience they offer.

Most presidents are not strong enough to lead a government like that and have to install loyalist believers and cronies in every nook and cranny of government once elected regardless of qualifications or competence.

The weak Bush government reflected the weakness of Bush as a leader.

That looks like a  huge change to me.

I think he is so shocked by the enormity of the task in front of him that he is wise enough to dispense with partisan political considerations.
He is also aware that he is being held up as a saviour of some kind and knows that he can't be.

He made an interesting comment - one I don't have to hand, so I'll paraphrase it, you'll get the jist anyway.

"I need to work to find a way to break through the isolation of being president."

Which made me go "wow" when I read it.

Other politicians make similar kinds of statements - but in political speak - the "reach out" kind of thing blah blah ....
You never believe it as it sounds like a speech not a real thought or belief.

In fact most politicians don't sound like they think deeply about anything apart from their own political  interests.

They don't usually say things like

"I need to work to find a way to break through the isolation of being president."

Weird - but good weird. :)

He sold it, but he explained his thinking.

He is building a large tent, get them all inside or else they just piss on you from outside.
First step in making something work is to build consensus.
And yet there is still no doubt as to who is in charge.

Man - He isn't even president but he already is. :)
