Obviously I've just skimmed it, but I don't see anything frightening or horrible in this bill. The section you referenced is basically saying that your insurance should (or must; I didn't look into the originating section) pay for home visits from healthcare assistants. I honestly can't see how you could possible misconstrue this as "the government searching your house for mistreatment"... this is something that most healthcare already offers. We were able to get this with our first and second children; a doula to come to the house and help us prepare, give us some insight into things we could do to get ready for the baby (before the first) and then, to actually come and just help out around the house a little with the second. All paid for (partially) by my insurance at the time--two different companies actually.
I know you don't have kids, Craig, so you might not understand that a lot of parents are freaked out, or totally clueless. To be able to get help from a professional seems to be pretty damn cool if you ask me, both before and after a child is born, and during their childhood.
Again, I am not sure this is much of a change from what insurers offer now... I know I got partial reimbursement for it. But that could just be my plan, or California law.
