Fucking amazing.  Actually, even a bit disturbing.  We just got out HDTV last week (a 40" Sony w/ 1080p resolution) and then we got the HD cable box yesterday... was watching Law and Order SVU last night... holy crap, you can see so much more... and it's not always good... for example, the actrss playing the DA (Stephanie Meengs I think) had all these red blotches on her skin below her neck... and numerous other things that revealed way too much...
Agree.
I got a SONY 40W4000 myself last week.....  Amazing....
You can see every asshair when you watch a HD porn movie !!!!!! ;D ;D
No need to worry, throw away your glasses and get rid of  high definition asshair (works on cockroaches too)
Sure it is great Charger. Did you get a 120hz? Makes a huge difference. That's the latest thing now.

I have a 720p. It's damn good but 1080p is of course better. Enjoy!!!! :)

Congrats, thats an excellent display -- Sony's and now Sammy's rate the highest at CNET for color accuracy and depth of calibration, you should be able to set that thing up to near 100% SMPTE perfection on your own.

I've been enjoying it for a while now - though being able to see pores is not always a pleasing experience, lol.

My display is 1080p24 (62" Sammy), I personally much prefer that over the 120hz hype! 24p is the way many movies are shot (though some do also use those newfangled HD cameras now, not sure what they shoot at, Superbad was shot that way as an example), but yeah, hopefully your display does the 24p thing, its really 'film like', just like watching in the movie theaters, thats the intended look - the 120hz looks odd to me, way to 'video like', much of that is a marketing gimmick to sell displays, because again, the characters on screen almost move so fluidly they appear to be walking on ice or something, hardly the way they look when you view movies in the theater anyway. I have my Blu Ray player outputting at 24p and my display reading and spitting it out at 24fps and watching flicks at home seems even better than hitting the theaters (especially if you've got the sound set up to go with)!

Our opinion of 120htz is so different it isn't worth me explaining. Very surprised at your conclusion! :)

LOL, no need to explain anything to me, I use my eyes!!! My display is a new LED, NOT LCD, it does 24p PROPERLY, ZERO judder issues. Yes, I know the difference, its quite easy to spot once you've A/B'd them. I have the option of watching Blu Rays on my display at either 24p or 60hz, and as they say, the pans, some zoom in/outs, etc are much more film like and smooth @24p, kick it over to 60hz and suddenly they're not. Another easy place to compare is on vertical scrolling credits, again, my display running on its 24p mode is like butter, no judder. LCD, heh, don't personally care much for it (at least not as my main big display for movie watching, I do have a little 32" 1080p Samsung LCD in the bedroom), they have weak black level detail, minor burn in issues, etc.

I think the advantage/hype (yes, its partial hype, google "is 120hz hype?" and there are plenty of credible sources explaing all sides of that) is that some may SOME DAY feel they'll be all set to cover/handle ALL sources with a 120hz tv, network tv/cable AND Blu Ray stuff. A display like mine (1080p24) will only give me the 1080p24 on Blu Rays at the moment, NOT cable (and standard DVD for that matter), but it could if cable/networks actually spit out 1080p - it currently runs tv, sports, cable, etc @60hz, but again, thats because at this moment in time, thats what the sources are providing - Blu Ray is the only damn thing that provides that superior source, lol...."tv" will be hanging around 60hz for who knows how long, thats the thing, its the norm right now, so again, do you REALLY need a 120hz display when theres really not much out there supplying that level of info? Sell those tv's!!! The economy can use the boost.  ;D ;)
Well, it's all a big mess, right?  If your HDTV does 60Hz, then 24 fps material has to run at a 3:2 pulldown, just like it does at 30 fps (60/24 and 30/24).  So if your TV can show it at 24 fps, it's going to look better... every four frames two frames aren't being interlaced together to create a nonexistent frame.  But at 120 Hz, you get an even multiplier (120/24=5), and your TV just has to repeat each frame 5 times.  120 also works perfectly with 30 Hz--simply repeat each frame 4x.

Let's just consider ourselves lucky that NTSC is being replaced with ATSC.  It's a real shame that such a painful compromise was struck to keep color and black and white working together. So bizarre that for over 50 years we've been running all broadcast video at 29.97 fps, but the move to an even 30/60 is going to be great for standardization.  And all the old stuff will just have to run slightly faster.
Let's not forget, another reason why a 120hz Refresh Rate is actually important (and not hype) is for video games. Yes, there are weirdos out there (like me :D 8-) ) who actually like to let loose and play hockey, as well as some other games, once in a while. Without 120hz, I understand the players look what can be best described as "fuzzy", especially when shooting the puck or making a quick move. Or in a game like God Of War, where there is a lot of very quick action, apparently it just ends up looking like a giant fuzz cloud on the screen. So if you want to play games on your tv that actually look good, like they did on your old CRT tv, then you want at least 120hz.

The other area where I notice a big difference between 60hz and 120hz, is when images or text is scrolling across the screen. Like when a camera pans to show a building or something. Again, there is a noticeable blurriness with 60hz, but not so much with 120hz. At least to my eyes. So I wouldn't dismiss 120hz Refresh Rates as merely hype.

I hear the best HDTV's are Samsung, Sharp, and Sony. You'll probably want one that's 1080p because you'd be investing in the future. Stations might not broadcast at 1080p right now, but they will in a few years. And in the meantime you can take advantage of BluRay movies if you want true 1080p. As for picture quality, to my eyes, Sony has really good sharpness. It always stands out to me in the store how sharp their picture really is. But I'm not willing to pay an extra $400 just for their name, or for some extra sharpness that I can adjust in the settings anyway. In any case, if you have the extra money and are willing to pay, then you'll be getting a great tv in my opinion. :)

I guess as you can tell I'm in the market for one. :) I'm just waiting for prices to come down a bit, and for a tv that I'll be able to play video games on no problem, without the blurring. I was looking at Samsung, but can't stand the red Touch Of Colour design. I might end up getting a Sony afterall! ;D

Anyway, enjoy your sets, charger, and everyone else who has a nice HDTV! Hopefully I'll be making the leap to the 21st century and joining you guys soon. Until then, it's still rabbit ears for me! Just kidding. :D ::) :)
I've had HD for some time now.  I have a plasma in the living room and a LED or LCD I can't remember which in the bedroom and Direct TV throughout the house.

HD channels are ridiculous.  I remember the first thing I watched was a college football game and this particular team (I can't remember who) I always thought head red helmets.  In fact they were METALLIC red and that was something you couldn't notice on "regular" TV.  For years I thought it was a flat red.  CRAZY!

I know what charger means though by it showing too much. some people have REALLY bad skin and you can see how big people pores are on HD TV.

Teh plasma we have shows all the levels of HD automatically.  Most local channels only go out in 410 or 720....but my sports shit comes in at 1080p and I can do 1080i.  I have no complaints.  Love that shit.
