The Watering Hole

Well since I talked to you folks last, my old XP Pro Sonar 8.5.3 died several deaths. I still have the data (most of it on a passport drive) and I also have all the hard drives and external cases to plug them in to recover what I have not yet backed up.

So I decided not to build a new DAW only computer. I dd load Sonar on my Office computer, and bought a Presonus 6/8 USB interface https://www.presonus.com/products/Studio-68 and it all works pretty well, but being lazy I have not gone out to load on all the previous versions of Sonar so I can recover the old plugs I used.

I may go with a laptop and solid state OS and apps drive, or a tower. I have not recorded in years but I may get inspired and if so I need the hardware up and running.
My son just built a new system for music with an AMD Ryzen processor... the thing's got 12 cores and it smokes my 2-year-old Intel system. He can run all these ridiculous plugins on it and it doesn't even break a sweat. It's the first time I've seen and AMD system and thought, man am I jealous.
Wow Charger, I never thought much of the AMD stuff. Times sure change. Anyways I do not know if I will ever get back into recording much but I sure want it there if I do get inspired. So perhaps in the future I will buy or build a dedicated recording set up (Probably Intel but if AMD has better new stuff maybe them)
