The Watering Hole

Charger, etc., I asked this several weeks ago, so I'm really just looking for an update.

Should I, or should I not, add AVG or Avast to my new laptop?  I googled it and see several tech sites saying the free included Microsoft Anti-virus is fine and will not slow your system down.  Just wondered what the word on the street is.
Considering Microsoft's lack of experience in writing AV software, I might go ahead and snag AVG.
hmmm... it says I need to uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials to install AVG.   "Conflicts, performance issues, blah blah...   ::)
I may have said "Avira AntiVir" before.  I guess I just have to keep saying it.

This term means adding security holes and backdoor access for hackers (also known by it's project name "Old Skool Windows").  ;)

Yes but you said that in reference to XP.  This is different and several network people I know have said that they are using MS Security Essentials in big work environments with no issues.

Why don't you just take the piece of shit back and buy a Mac and forget about all that bullshit.
I installed it last night.  I thought I'd try AVG last week, and as soon as the install started, it said I had to uninstall MS Security Essentials before I could install it, so I stopped the install.  Installed Avira last night and it didn't do anything like that.  Guess I should uninstall MSSE anyway.

Yeah, because there are no security holes or bugs with the MacOS, right?
Well, I don't know. I don't use any virus protection and have never had a problem. My Mac has been solid as a rock so far. So much so that I'm considering getting a Imac for home use at the first of the year.

I guess I just have to wait. Wait and see, right? :D
