I'm testing windows 7 ultimate (within vmware) at the moment.

First impressions.....everything seems to run very quickly and efficiently.  Apart from the horrible look and feel (worse than vista out of the box) I'm liking it so far.
Cool. Get a Mac and you could forget all that bullcrap. ;D

Let us know good and bad as there discovered. Interested!! :)

Was it a purchase thing or did you buy a computer with it installed?

we are part of the msdn (microsoft developer network) so we get everything fo free for testing

by the way I can't use a mac because I am a windows software devepoper so a mac is no good to me
Yeah, get a Mac, then you can pay for operating system upgrades every year instead of every five. ;)
Upgrades? You mean perfection can be perfected? ;D

I'll never buy a pc again. These macs, so far, are far easier to use and have much more features any person can use. I love it! It's the little things.
I agree, they are cool.  But just wait.
Maybe he's happy because he's discovered "paperweight mode" and hasn't gone beyond that yet?  ;) :D

Wait for what?

(Hehe... ;D)
I love Apple hardware, and hate them as a company.  Just wait.
Must be talking about support if something fails, right?

At any rate, I've got a good guy now that works on my computers when needed. He said he could handle any problem I may have. He prefers macs also. He did mention that parts of any kind would be expensive, in most cases, but told me not to worry on my particular machine.

I don't see how support could get any worse than Dell, Gateway, or some of the others out there.
I'm not talking about support.  I'm talking about lack of standards (on my PC if something breaks I can just stick in a new part... on a Mac, good fucking luck) and Apple's compulsory upgrade program... much like Adobe, they release a new OS version that you have to pay for every year.  And typically charge a healthy amount for it.  Coupled with the fact that they change standards so often that you have to change your software frequently, and are always terrible about backwards compatibility, they make me insane... as a company.  Their PCs, those huge boxes that cost 3 grand, can be put together for $6-800 bucks... I know a former Apple employee who's done it, and his "mac" is rock solid.  Everything they sell is marked up by at least 100%.

That said, they certainly have a wow factor and are fun when you first start using them.  It took me years to get tired of the company... I worked on Macs for years...
Well, it's like this man.

I've got a gps and the company suggest a map update every year....about 50 to 75 bucks. I've never updated it and it's not failed me one time. I did a free firmware update for the first time about a month ago and can't tell any difference.

I've been through many Internet explorer updates and it's really just not necessary for me. They are never faster as advertised, just a tad different looking.

As little as I do on a computer, I;ll probably never upgrade mine.

And macs are getting better with compatibility issues as far as I can tell and from what I've heard. Microsoft office, a windows program now works fine with macs....I even hooked up my HP printer and it worked with no installation at all. Didn't have to load the disk or anything.

If you ignore all the upgrade bullshit, and your computer is running properly, you'll be just fine. It's just another way to make money....all the upgrades and shit.

Macs are just user friendly and have options that are amazingly well thought out. The mouse pad is just fantastic. The things you can do with the command plus key is damn nice....like command plus P makes the computer print, little things like that. The dock being at the bottom with all your most used programs is very nice.

It's just a well thought out operating system that's really easy to use and well organized, imo.

This statement intrigues me.  It's so mysterious.  Any hints? ;)

I'd love to see Apple release OSX for PC's.  I love to build my own machines but would love to use OSX on it.  I'm not an uber-geek and don't have time to do the hacks to make it work (I know it can BE done).

You are joking, right?

Hit Control+P on your Windows machine, my man.

I find it hard to believe that it took a Mac to make you learn keystrokes that have existed on every computer since the beginning of computing.

OSX86.com

It's not really a question of a difficult hack.  You just need to load the right environment onto the BIOS to make it work like a Mac.  That's what these sites tell you how to do, and provide software for.  Then you install OS X off the shelf.

If you want, you can even buy a Mac keyboard, and get the Command key. ;)
Then you can white out the name of your computer and, with a few colored markers or crayons if you're not allowed to use sharp instruments, make your own Apple image.  ;) :D

Believe it. ;D ;D

Not so much that as the really outstanding mouse pad. The ease of finding shit. No anti virus, which i was paying 50 to 75 bucks a year for, by the way. No defrag shit. Lit up keyboard. Decent sound card and a great picture. Light weight. Slim. It gives great head to by the way. ;D ;D
And, getting back to the thread, it can run Windows 7 Ultimate. ;)
Why would someone put Windows shit on a Mac? I sure wouldn't.
Why not?  It's a PC inside, with an Intel chip.  All the components are the same components that are in other PCs.  It's not like it was shit out by the golden goose.  You could make the same argument, "why would you put the MacOS on a PC?  Why would anyone put Linux on a server?"

Uhh... so you can run stuff that you can't run on other OSes?

Most of the people that I know who own Macs have windows also loaded.
