wouldn't it make more sense that Josephus was, rather, using the stories of Jesus to create parallels while writing about Titus... deifying him after his conquest using local stories? since he wrote it around 75... Paul was dead by then, what was he writing about if not Jesus?

anyway, interesting theory - I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't any actual physical evidence, kinda made it sound like he found something like that in the promo... heh. not persuaded, but a very interesting line of thought.

Yeah, I was kind of expecting an actual smoking gun, "we've got confessions of people who made Jesus up," but instead, it's a literary one. Well, shit, the entire Old Testament is a literary fable that's been told by every culture under the sun for 15,000 years, but that hasn't stopped Judaism and Christianity from embracing the stories as truth.  

I think the guy has a interesting theory on his main points.

But.... he is a self taught "scholar", a businessman. He's selling his book and movie. He's kinda a mythicist.

Much of his stuff sounds exactly like conspiracy theories on his trailers to the film.

I say horseshit. Will be interesting to see what evidence he has on the 19th.

I've read reviews and a few scholarly criticisms that are mostly pretty harsh on him.

That's interesting.

A tidbit to add to that and I'm curious as to how this guy puts it all together, is the fact that Constantine did much to unify the texts that would become the new testament.  The whole canonization of the bible took place to make what was available at the time be more harmonious.....or perhaps it was just the ruse they used to make it seem as if Jesus was real when they were in fact fabricating him.  That will be an interesting read.....hope it doesn't disappoint....feel like it probably will.
