My bio-polar Chargers needed the Ravens & Dolphins to lose while they beat the Chiefs to get into the playoffs. KC sat most of their best players and SD was at home so they had a better-than-normal chance in their game then, when Baltimore and Miami DID lose, they decided to give heart issues to all their fans.
Down 10 points in the second half they crawl back to tie the game 24-24, but then they let the Chiefs get all the way down to the red-zone for a 41-yard field goal attempt with 6 seconds left in the game. It's looking like a typical snatch defeat from the jaws of victory ending, until the kicker misses the kick!
In overtime they actually did a fake punt from their 27 yardline - are you kidding me? After killing over ten minutes off the clock (they go to the playoffs with a tie as well), they kick a field goal and the other team gets a chance. They come all the way done before having a negative play that puts them just outside field goal range. One last stop and the Chargers are now in the playoffs!
They play Cincinnati next (who barely beat them with a last-minute field goal during the season).
It seems that the Chargers can beat all the best teams (Broncos, Chiefs - twice, Indy, Dallas - when they were in first place), but they also keep losing against almost all the last place teams (Texans, Eagles - when they were in last, Washington, Raiders).
