Sound fricken great to me, especially the 800 and JMP < which really surprised me when he throws on the boost switch (rear panel). Limited 1 year run it sounds like, so if pricing is good, I can see picking one up later this year (if not those TWO ;D).
...and the girl with the mic? Yes. :P
Are they tube or ss? I am confused a bit.
They're 1 watt (I believe there's a switch to bump up to 15 watt as well) versions of their big brothers. Definitely TUBE. Something Marshall is doing for their 50th anny.
They are a little pricey when you consider how swamped the used market is with the older 100 watt amps but IMO, it's not about that. I know I can nab a used jcm 800 for around $800-$1k (just a little more than what these will street for), but they're loud as fuck and I already have loud, high gainers. THESE will be killer RECORDING amps for HOME guys like most of us, that is, for Marshall flavor fans anyway...we've long since had other companys doing the mini amp thing. Marshall is just joining in I guess, lol. I suppose I'm excited because I miss my 800 and now I could have that authentic 800 tone again at a fraction of the volume. :)
You could get an Egnater cheaper... I think they sound nice, but are low on features compared to the very crowded field of low-wattage amps out there right now. And the pricing is ludicrous...
Not me. I much prefer the tones I hear in the samples over anything I've heard (and owned) from Engater, at least when it comes to high gain. Features, cleans, price, etc, sure, no brainer, Eggy wins...but I'm personally not needing those things and if I can find one of these one trick pony Marshalls for the right price, I'd be in. I love that one trick they do so well.
I missed it - what is the pricing?
They're up for pre-order already at some places in the UK, pretty sure we can expect the same prices here.

Over priced for what they are, but IF you can get a deal, then they'd be worth it. That 800 sounds great to me, and @ 1 watt, you could dime the thing, record awesome tone and never piss a sole off. You never know - scratch and dent, used, trade in/trade up some shit you no longer use, whatever. And these anniversary/one time items morph over time, we've seen it before...if they sell well for Marshall, you could see them removing the "50th Anny" plate and continue selling the same amps at a better price, lol.
if I had the money I'd buy all four of these, I think they're really cool, kind of like collectors pieces.
Brilliant idea by Marshall.
800-900$ is a bit too much for what they are. When/if the prices drop to 600-700$ range I'd be buying one.
I've read now that those initial prices are actually MSRP and that they will more likely street for $750 head, $800 combo. Still too high but better. Like Lance , if they were really priced more affordable, I'd grab TWO, the 800 and the JMP.
I love all the mini amps out there now. I wish I could have one of each, and the time to play them - lol...
Wow, that JCM was pushing out some ridiculous tone! Definitely getting one of those for sure.
Collect the whole set! :D
(And there's five of them by the way Lance. :) )
Couple other little tidbits...the JMP has 4 preamp slots whereas all the others have 3, so you'll be able to config that one however you'd like for gain (3 or 4), pretty nifty.
They're all cathode based so you won't have to bias.
