I listened to this yesterday. Revisiting it this morning. Kind of curious about the Bogner Blue more that the pickup.
I dig the playing. The start has this AC/DC vibe> The Bends with the single note run sounds very Angus Young, to me.
Without the pedal, I wanted you to step on the pedal.
this might be more informative... maybe. leaving the bogner pedal as a constant and comparing against a different pickup.
36th on the left. texas special (tone rolled back to about 7.5) on the right.
both going bogner blue -> flexi. no setting changes other than a guitar switch out.
sound kinda ok together
It's tough to tell much. The Texas Sp. sounds a little brighter even with the tone rolled back a bit, maybe. Sounds good together.
I guess if I had to pick just one, I'd take the blue one. Nearly equal.
tx sp sound better in a mix imo... I lose some of the highs and lows but don't want them anyway.
I think the 36th is a fine pickup but as this shows, there's not much of a point to it in my SSH strat... sounds too similar to my other strat.
Listened to the first one. Obviously have to wait til I get home and can throw on some headphones to do the L/R comparison.

I have an 87 PRS and don't love the pickups. My two new PRS's both have fantastic pickups. Two different shops have said that the 36th are the closest thing they have heard to the PRS 57/08s in my LTD Semi Hollow, and those are glorious things!
Chris is pushing me towards WCR's. Pickups, unlike pedals, speakers, even amps, are hard to audition. Installing them just to try is not possible. You have to buy them or at best go find a similar guitar that has them and try it with a few setups.. I called PRS about a set of 57/08s and lets just say it's a pretty "pricey" option. :o
my PRS has the HFS and Vintage... not crazy about them but they're ok. I had an AirZone in there for a while that sounded great but it wasn't F-Spaced... so I swapped it back. went full-time strat after that and never got around to getting the right size for it.
the 36th is a great pickup, no complaints - playing it a bit these last couple days has been fun, it has really nice stuff happening with double bends -- the thing for me is that it's in the black strat and that's supposed to sound different (modern) vs. the red strat!

ah, thanks for the clarification on the strats. I was thinking by earlier post that you were less than pleased with it.
So....you've had the 36th bridge for a while now, any update? Did it make the cut? Grown on ya? Just curious, been thinking of picking one up as well.
yeah, it's ok - still in the strat... but I haven't played that strat since about the time of this thread... so... heh.
I keep trying to remember to log some more time on the old Ibanez with a super distortion in it... I think that might be the way I ultimately go (SD). dunno, that 36th is not a "will definitely leave it in there" pickup... but it sounds good. just not distinctive, I guess.
Gotcha, thanks for the update. Funny, not long after I bumped this was I doing some more reading and kinda already determined to keep digging. Then you mention it's aight but not earth shattering (in your setup anyway). I'll keep reading and trolling lol.
The Super D. Classic. Sounds good in damn near any type lumber too. I have a really old one in my Charvel and love it.
