Not piling on but the recording toy was great, FIRST thing that popped into my head as well.  :P

I'll guess another guitar of some sorts. A new axe is kinda easy to blindly buy for someone based on the players taste. Amps, pedals, cabs, etc, not so popular a gift idea unless someone has really dropped SPECIFIC hints, lol.

I think I read somewhere that jpg can be datamined to reveal a short clip of audio at the time of the photo. might be the problem.  :D

Thanks guys.  It really is great.  Love these new pickups as well, maybe as well as the 57/08 pickups in my Anniversary LTD model.  And I love the faded blue burst color as well.  

Sheep, funny thing is, I just picked it up for pics... when I had it hanging down lower, my shirt was tucked around my belt buckle.  LOL  

The best thing of all, is who got it for me.  Now this, you can't beat!  (Sorry about the squinting.  DTR Jr made us take our sunglasses off for the pic. LOL)

6 months of looking, still haven't played a 305.  Was going to go to Willcutt just to try some out.  She found this store and I had told her that I needed to play both first to make sure, but probably wanted a Studio, or a 305.  They had a studio in Purple Hazel and that is what she took me to see.  Loved the guitar, didn't like the color, which isn't purple AT ALL.  It's gray and barely had highlights of blueish purple in the flame stripes.  

She fell in love with this one as soon as we walked in the store.  I played it LAST!  After about 5 minutes, I decided that I liked it at least as well as the studio and liked the color much better.  

Now it's on to the amp search.  I'll be talking to you soon about that Mini Rec or maybe  5150 III like D just got.

Sounds cool Howie.  Right now, we are waiting to get restocked on the Mini Rec.  I don't think we are authorized for the 5150 III (though we ARE a Fender dealer, we aren't authorized for the EVH line).  Wish we were.

Chris, did you get a chance to play with the mini much?  I was shocked at how little gain it had but it was a quick audition and I was not at all familiar with their switches/modes.  I want to take a longer look at one some time.

D, that sounds really good.  This amp wasn't even on my map until you got yours.  Now it's #1 on the "must check out" list.  

It's bright, that's for sure, course Ed's tones have always been brighter. If you've got some darker vibed gear to compliment it, you'd like it. Three great channels in one amp. Clean to insane. Sounds really nice at minimal volume and with low output pickups. Your new axe would probably be a great match.

Howie, I never played the mini much.  But it is pretty accurate gain-wise to the bigger brothers.  I thought it had plenty of gain though.  I think we might have been dialing down the gain a little though.  That said, I like turbo-charging the gain with a Tube Screamer.  Almost a standard issue pedal with these amps.   ;)

Right now we are waiting on another Mini-Rec.  The one you saw got sold.
