My wife took it upon herself to use the previously-mentioned-in-another-thread store trade to get me the HD500 for Father's Day.

Holy CRAP is it an improvement over previous PODs sonically. I just love the fact that the notes actually have that "bloom" you hear from a good amp. Sustain is so much better, touch-responsiveness is incredible. It's just fun to play. And it's really easy to program, too.

The only thing that is a colossal bummer is that it has no bass amps in it, so I can't replace my X3 Live for my live rig just yet unless I can figure out a way to get a good enough bass tone out of it (and I just might be able to work that out).

I hope HD model packs for bass come soon and are cheap...

VERY happy with this so far...

Great review Tripper...
Congrats Tripper.  You're gonna like it a lot!  Enjoy!
It really is brilliant isn't it !   I was very uneasy about buying a "pod" when I pulled the trigger but so glad I did.

Happy playing !
Make sure you lodge your bass comment with the Line 6 guys (the mothership and Andy's ION forum).  They need to know that these are things people want.
Congrats Tripper! The HD is very NICE !  ;)

Ciao!

Sweet! Congrats. Great piece of gear. Great wife.  :)
Question for you HD500 guys. I want one but have not taken the plunge, although I plan to in order to replace my Eleven Rack. My question is how far do you have to push the unit in terms of effects, dual amps, etc... in order to hit the DSP limit. Anyone find this to be a concern? So far I have heard that it only really seems to be an issue when using dual amps;; but then again, dual amps IS one of the big draws of the HD500 to me.
I Haven't seen the warning yet.
I have only seen the dsp warning once.  I was testing out how far it could go.  I had two amps running, and all effects before and after the amp.  It  depended on what type of effects were all running at the same time.  Delays and reverbs take a lot of processing.

Having said that, I would never run that many effects all at the same time in real life anyway.
Nice to see you again , Spay ! ;-)

The same here while I was trying the dual amp feature (  plus some FX)...but not with all the amp models.
Probably some of the modeled amps uses a different amount of DSP power.

Ciao!

Maybe the POD HD Pro will come with the bass patches...
Thanks for all the encouraging comments, fellas. I haven't had as much time to mess with it this past week as I'd like (work, gigs, kid's birthday, etc.), but I still really love this thing. It does so much so well, it just makes me excited to see what else will come as they continue to improve the software.
