The Watering Hole

I just sold it....I've had it 2 months and dropped £200 ($300ish) on the price I paid for it.

It is an excellent tool, but I just can't stand all this damn tweaking !  Somebody should make one of these things with loads of real knobs on it like a real amp....that would be awesome, but as it stands I'm just spending too much time tweaking the fucker.  Back to good old solid real valve amps for me.

It was a worthwhile experience to see if more processing power really does give you everything you want in an amp tone machine....nearly, but still not there.   I need real valves and real air....simple as that....and I always knew that....just seem to get suckered into the hype !
It is interesting indeed.  My PODxt sits for the same reason...  well, that PLUS it doesn't sound nearly as good as the AXE.  But it's like you are always tweaking for something different or better OR just to see what all it can do.  Even when evaluating my Tweaker, I spend way more time playing than flipping the tone stack switch or twisting the knobs.  And it always sounds really good!

If you put that many great tones plus effects, etc., etc., in one box, it's almost a waste to NOT tweak it constantly, IMO.  If you just settle on one amp, speaker and a couple effects tone and leave it there, you feel you are wasting all the other stuff.
I find that the big problem is that there is so much to tweak I am never satisfied with the sound. On the other hand, with a real amp and a mic I reach satisfaction level very very quickly which enables me to play guitar rather than fiddling around with parameters all the time.
I have lost the bet  !!! ..........I would have bet for "three months" !!  :)

positively ancient  ;D
The one thing I liked about my modelers was the extensive tweak ability that they had. I used to program synths in my analog studio days, so I actually enjoyed the modeler tweaking. I like some of the sounds of the Axe FX it sounds like an excellent unit. Too pricey for me however, for two grand plus I could get a smoking amp head that will do everything I need done. In fact my cheapo HRD does everything I need with my tube distortion stomps.
