The Watering Hole

Just a tiny slice here, making progress I think, still a bit harsh (this is a more aggressive amp than I initially realized). The mic is basically nipple ring and slightly off axis, thinking of actually moving it out at least 50%, it just needs to be warmer I think. But as far as the amp tone itself, its really growing on me, its much like my Marshall, just more ballsy, gain is only half up here (boost switch on however) and it sings, plenty of saturation at bedroom levels.

Not being blown away by the coloring effects though, will prolly start turning them off and just slap a pedal or two in the loop, leaning towards an MXR Carbon Copy ATM.

This could've been a better sample, did not notice the minor clipping last night before I hit the rack, sure hearing it this morn at work though, heh. /=

Clean and Lead Test

Nice
Really really nice sounds ! Awesome amp !

Gain at half way... I should turn my gain knob twice to get half of your half.. :)

Ciao !

Thanks fellas - it just hit me that I've been forgetting to apply my favorite little High/Low pass filter plug, sounds silly, its such a standard thing, but it really helps remove that high end harshness. Oh well, next time. (=

Very nice bro!  ;) Which guitar was that?

cgtrox  8-)

Heh, thanks, Chris! Next one should be better, gonna try a semi heavy mix thing (well, a few raw tracks, no mastering and shit), Bogner rhythm left, Marshall rhythm right, Bogner lead up the gut, etc.

Its the Ibanez, I just luv that damn guitar, lol, keep going back to it - it prolly needs to be refretted soon. I bought a Jackson DKM2 on a kinda sperm of the moment impulse, wish I woulda got another nez now looking back. My particular Ibanez just plays better, sustains better, the pickups have greater clarity, etc, compared to the Jax. Oh well, Nate would hate it, but I'm an Ibeenhad sucka. =)

EDIT: Been peeking at this one a lot lately.  ;)

Nasty little rhythm sample, not sure how close this really is, soloed out I can hear the diff, but in a mix, eh, its a nice thick 80's type tone - this amp covers a lot of ground, lol!

Blues Saraceno of the left, Kabala on the right (I kept up as long as I could, which wasn't much - this guy is a mutha).

dirty sample

That's really nice, the squeals seem effortless...

Glad you be digging the new amp.

btw, I'm a NezHead too...
Hmm... Don't know... I think that sample is fucked up. :-?

I mean, I started to listen to it and just as I'm really getting into it, it ended.  ;) :(
Great tone, I knew that amp would rock at band levels.
NICE !!!
I really really LIKE these sounds (especially those from the combo)!!

Derek, do you think these sounds are real or "post manipulated :) " ?

Thanks!
Marco

I didn't spend much time on the clean type tones, can't comment on that specifically. But I still think the amp sounds fine, nothing as bad as some obvious haters with an agenda say (like some folks on HCAF). I was in GC a few days ago picking up an MXR 108 EQ pedal (kicks ass!) and a very good player was playing through what was most likely the very head I retunred a few weeks ago (they only had one in stock)....it sounded SWEET, I even walked past the dude a uttered "sounds great, man" to him (OK, so he had a hawt daughter with him, needed an excuse to get a closer look, lol), but my feelings hadn't changed just because I found something better for me, its a very good amp.

I LOVE my Splawn! Getting the tones I always wished for - but had I not have it fall right into my lap, I'd still have the Alcehmist.....well, as least I would've until the Egnater Renegade 50 hit, have a hunch that might top it.  ;)
Thanks for the info!

I've listened to your Splawn's clips....what a BIG sound !

Now I "need" a new amp...the little laney lionheart sounds really good to my ears and I get the sounds I like but it's only 5 watt and it's always with the volume knob at 10/10 during rehersals.. :)

The Bogner seems to be really versatile and powerful ! I have to try it soon !!! :)

Thanks again!

Ciao,
Marco

I've also read good things about the Lionheart.

You may love the Bogner - and the lower wattage setting is still VERY LOUD, lol, alomst don't buy into it being at 20watts...you'd have no problems with volume at practice!
