This is it. Killer amp. I love, love, love it. Its frigging loud and thats a real downside but, ye gods what a sound. I recorded myself playing it with my iPhone and will post shortly. At Guitar center, lucky for me it was in the special room so I got to enjoy it all to myself for a half hour. At $1800, might actually be worth the cost.

I would love to play the Shiva. I had a Duende that sounded awesome, just wanted more gain on the lead channel.
$1800 is pretty reasonable for a Shiva. I think it should be yours. ;)

Shiva settings. I just played and switched through clean, gain, and gain+boost with the footswitch.

Shiva's are wonderful! My so-called "favorite" band up here is a three-piece of really, really good musicians and the guitarist uses a 58(year?) SG to a Shiva into a Vox cab. Great tone! :)

Great amp, hope you nab it. I like the mids on your gain clip. Supposedly these are easy to mod as well if you happen to like to tinker. I think they sound great as is, lol, nearly snagged one myself a few months back when the JVM honeymoon wore off (then I stumbled onto a Plexi, went with that instead). That is roughly the same price as the one that showed up here as well, not bad at all - the guy at our GC said the prices were actually falling a bit these days because of the 20th anniversary model that either came out recently or is coming soon (or whatever), lots of crazy owners upgrading. I'd say it's the opposite, the originals should become a more (if they're not already) collectable amp...you know, the older versions of gear always sound better. ;)

Nice clips, recorded to an I-Phone as well which is surprising.

Sounds real nice.
Can imagine what it sounded like in the room.
What mic accessory did you use with the iphone ?
charger#11 · Feb 23, 2011 06:11 UTC
That's the iPhone internal mic. I just moved the iPhone back to where the level looked good, it was probably 8 feet away. If I had known there would be a Shiva at guitar center, I would have brought my blue mikey. I have to say the clips really do sound like it though, except for the digital clipping that happens from time to time..

Very nice! Might want to consider a Budda SD18 at about half the price.
charger#13 · Feb 23, 2011 19:00 UTC
Why would a Budda sound like a Bogner? Seriously. I mean, if you are saying it does, I'll try one out, but the Bogner clean--it's unreal. I hear it in clips all the time, and finally getting to play it, it is as advertised. I've never played anything like it. The Alchemist clips are promising-- that would be my entry-level amp to the Bogner sound if it sounds as good as the clips indicate. Then I could dump my SpiderValve...
DreamTheaterRules#14 · Feb 23, 2011 19:21 UTC
well, didn't say it sounded JUST like the Bogner. But it is a boutique amp that sounds fantastic and is very versatile so I would bet it can sound pretty similar.
Hey, it's about half the price. Try one. If you don't like it, nothing lost. If you do, $$ saved and killer boutique tone and money left in the gear fund.

Sounded nice and defined when crunching. Cool.
Cinvala#16 · Mar 02, 2011 00:30 UTC
Heard a 112 shiva combo not so long ago, sounded pretty damn nice. Guy playing it had a PRS Santana which also was pretty damn nice. Wouldn't let anybody at the jam touch his gear. "dude don't touch the dials, I've got them set just right" ::)
desertbluesman#17 · Mar 02, 2011 02:39 UTC
I tried the Bogner Alchemist Charger. I had it in the house for a few days when they first came out. It was a nice amp, the overdrives sounded flat with very little dynamics at room volumes but it rocked turned up, I tried it with several extension cabs also. It was rather nice. However it did not do any more than my Hot Rod Deluxe with a tube overdrive stomp. In fact I liked the sound of the Fender a little better. If I did not already have the HRD, I would have kept it.
