The Watering Hole

Just bought one on impulse as the store had one - the hand painted US made variety.

Neat little thing - quite dainty and cute.
sound wise it complements the Barber direct drive I have  well - different raunchier I suppose.

Straight out the box and first recording thru the c30 clean channel into one of Rockets IR Cab convolutions.
I used the track setup in the project I used in Jon G's last FNJ - bit of delay.
It is a bit loud and squished tbh - but first test is the first test.

I played around with the guitar vol and lowered in the middle of the clip - boost and distortion high so it hardly cleans up much as gets lower.
Boost on it's own is pretty cool sounding.

It is definitely a classic Rock levels of distortion  box  - curious as to what the box of metal sounds like - but I don't really do metal :)

Some Guitar store type wank around playing

Happy with it so far

Box of Rock is a cool pedal.  I almost got one of those (it was between that and a Menatone King of the Britains).  I ended up getting the King of the Britains (basically a Plexi in a box).  I'd love to do a side by side comparison.

I'll listen to your clip when I get home (for some reason it isn't playing here at work).

I intended to get one a year or so ago - but couldn't find one in stock so on DTR's recommendation I got the Barber DD instead another very good pedal.
Think Mex mentioning it in a thread got me GAS'ing again.

Just did another test recording - no delay or effects and less boost/distortion - raw sound.

it is very quiet - impressively so.

Will do mic'd up test at some point.

Never heard of the Menatone King of the Britains pedal  - checking it out on the web - got some great reviews.

But GAS is over for a bit for me now - but I'd love to hear some clips :)
Oooooh yeah, sounds sooo good. Gotta get me one of those.  8-)
I recommend it Mex.

And I reckon it will sound better mic'd up (and through a better amp.)

Get this - I plugged it into the C30 with the vol turned to 0 - where you usually get a bit of sound bleeding - i.e. you know you are plugged in - enough so you can hear  what you are playing - a quiet thin uninspiring  sound

Then I turned the boost and drive up on the BoR and the C30 sounded loud and cranked in the room at a volume that was just about ok with neighbours during the day  :)

Hardly dared turn up the volume above 0 after that (though I did for  few moments - it was a huge  shake the room sound  ;D )

So  then resorted to CAB/IR for recording clips as that is how I am most likely going to use it at home.

Have an urge to go somewhere and crank it up though  ;)
Mic'd it up for a blues test.

Amp on 0 vol  - seriously :D

Had to compress it a tad to boost it high enough in the mix - which fucks up the tone somewhat makes it scratchier and noisier than it was.
The amp was TV loud - well truthfully maybe TV loud with a slightly deaf person listening  ;)

but even so I am pretty much amazed at fatness.

Interesting thing is the Cab IR recordings are pretty much the same quality as the real mic'd recording (all be it not ideal mic recording set up vol wise)

I would have a hard time telling them apart - if anything the IR ones sound better.
Sounded pretty nice to me.  :)
Finally got to listen to the clips.  Noice!!! 8-)
I like the second clip a lot better.  Cool.  I have been considering this pedal myself.
