The Watering Hole

I've got about 230 studio cables that I'm about to put up for sale on Craigslist (including 57 Monster cables, 138 Hosa, and various makes for the rest like ProCo or Neutrik).  The bulk of the cables were used to wire my fully balanced studio, then there are plenty of others for all the things you need like instrument cables, MIDI cables, microphone cables, speaker cables, etc.

I wasted a lot of time yesterday and went through each of the 72 types to determine what it would currently cost to buy one of that type (where a type is the combination of the connectors, length and make).  So now I have individual values for each cable.  Note that some of the cables are considered "Legacy" cables so the current price is actually a used price.  Also take into account that everyone knows Monster cables are always over priced.

So, here's the question:

What percentage of the current values do you think I should put into the ads?  40%?  33%?  Higher?  Lower?

TIA!
More info:

All cables are clean, never gigged with (only used in a smoke-free studio) and are very good to like-new.

If you are going to try to piece them out, I would start an auction on Ebay at 50% just to see how it goes.  It may take a while to move them one by one.  If you have a total for all in mind, you may be able to sell them as a "lot", and let someone else deal with sorting them.

Chances are that you won't get much less than piecing them out.  FWIW
I'd price them by the connectors. take replacement cost of the plugs - wire = minimum sale price.

why? because cables might be good, might be bad - can re-solder those... the connectors are the real value there, imo.

if they're molded connectors, hard to say...

I mean, the thing about cables is that the condition is not apparent by looking at them... I'd be reluctant to buy used cables at all, frankly.

but used connectors? no problem!

it's like... buying a used 9v battery vs. buying a used fork :: won't know how much is left until you test it vs. it's a fork.
Interesting idea.  However, all of the cables are in perfect working condition so I think I'll try selling them as is first.

One idea someone else gave me is to separate all of the Monster cable and sell it on its own for those that sniff the oxygen free Koolaid.  Monster cables are great if you got them at the prices I did.  The manager at G.C. gave me a heads-up that all of their current stock would have to be blown out during the Labor Day sale because Monster had new packaging.  Usually, it's the only product they carry that they are not allowed to discount so I was there first and pretty much bought all of what they had for 20% of cost!  In addition to the 57 Monster cables that I'm selling, I still have quite a few that I'm not.  They're definitely not worth the normal retail price though!
I think you can get some money for the Monster stuff, but you have to find the cork-sniffers. The Hosa and the rest of it I'd sell in bulk.  It's a real pain to sell cables individually.  At least pair them up, or sell them in groups of 5 or 10.  I kind of agree with sheep here, I wouldn't buy them used.  My preferred route is buying connectors and decent cable and building my own, but you can buy decent cables new on Amazon etc pretty cheap nowadays.  They may not be of the same quality as Hosa (? not sure if that's a brand I associate with quality), but at the very least they are new, and returnable if they don't work.  No offense, I don't care who you are, I'm not likely to take anyone's word that used cables are working.
Had one guy buy about ten of the longer TS to TS cables then, last night, had that "magic bullet" guy who not only bought all of my remaining 220 cables ($1,700!), but some other gear I had up for sale as well.  YAY!   That covers me for a couple of months and allows me to get a couple of new hard drives for my PC before my current ones finish dying (one has, the other is going).  Huge relief!  :)
Cool sale amigo, just in the nick of time......
Someone bought 220 cables from you for almost $8 a piece?  Are you related to PT Barnum? That is insane.
