I remember a year or two back reading about a combo amp stand that took the sound from the back of an open ended combo amp and pumped it out through a port. The port faced forward and was beneath the amp. Looked gimicky to me but I am kind of curious about it now. Supposedly increased volume and low end. I dont recall the name of the thing and after a good 12 minutes of trying to find it on the net the A.D.D. kicked in and I got distracted into doing something else.
Hmm... I think I remember them talking about that over in Andy's ION forum. It was quite a while ago though so I doubt it's still there, but at least you're not halucinating. Er, I mean, at least you're not halucinating alone! ;) ;D
I remember that stand. With a lil searching I found this:

Looks sweet. Maybe I'll chop the Roadking for a s/h Rectoverb and get one of these.
Things like this make me wonder, why have a combo amp in the first place, if you don't like that sound...?
True, you could get a head and a G-Flex ported cab instead!
Seems like just one more thing to carry to a gig!

Krank, I am just curious to hear what the thing sounds like. I do like my Vetta combo, but I like the head and 4x12 better. I just bought the combo cause I got it dirt cheap.
Yeah Spai, sorry I came off harsh, i realize how you came by that amp (and I had one of those at one time as well) I guess it was more of a general question about the need for/convenience of such an invention... Combo amps are generally used (to me at least, since I prefer closed back cabs) as a convenience, less gear to lug... But at the point where one decides to use one of these gizmos, the convenience disappears.
Sorry spai, same here, didn't mean to sound mean. Are those things plastic or wood??
