The Watering Hole

I've been amp-free (apart from the small Fender) for sometime now....just haven't had the time to spare for guitar.  BUT, I do have some spare time again now and I really do miss the Jet City JCA20H amp head....so much so that I've just bought the successor to it, the JCA22H - should arrive in a week or so and I'm really looking forward to it.   Of all the amps that I have had (and that includes peavey C30, marshall DSL50, fender Superchamp X2, Laney 15R and a few more) the most satisfying sound I've had is from the Jet City JCA20H and definitely the most satisfying one from the "playability" perspective.

So, I'm back in the game again very soon.....look out for some noise coming this way soon  ;D
Cool! Congrats! They added a loop. Smart. :)

I've been reading (hearing) a good bit about their newest stuff, they seem to be gaining momentum. I've pesonally been interested in the 'v' (vintage) version of what you had. Less gain but a more open, warmer vintage sound. Hope to sample one soon.

Jon,  cant wait to hear what you think of it. The 20 got tons of great press at TGP, so there should have been much drooling over the 2 channel 22 you are getting.  Never saw the wild popularity of the 20, but I've been very interested in this amp since it came out.  Hope you dig it.

That looks interesting, I hadn't seen that one.   The greatest thing of the Jet City stuff is that it's priced at a level where you could easily buy the entire line of amp heads without breaking the bank at all.....might do that  :)
UPDATE PLEASE!  Been wanting to hear about this amp.  Was pretty sure for months that I'd get one to try, until....  Well check my new gear post.

Still not here yet. Out of stock but should be shipped somewhere around 25th this month.
Oh sorry.  I was thinking you would have had it a week ago or so.  Before I decided to get the Mini, this was going to be my next amp.  It should be a great little amp for a great price.  Can't wait til you get it.

Yes I was hoping for delivery a couple of weeks ago, but just missed the last shipment.  All paid for, just hasn't arrived yet but they have new stock arriving on 25th and my name is on one of them.  Can't wait, especially to try it with the Torpedo CAB.   Those minirec's look tempting too, making me all moist  ;D
Jon, would you PLEASE quit screwing around and get this amp already?  I really want to hear what you think.  If that lead voice is as good as it could be, I might replace my Tweaker with one of these.  Now come on already!   ;D

still not shipped yet  >:(
Geez, I could have bought one over hear in any store, and shipped it to you a month ago!
Howie could buy one from the store I work at...in stock... ;)
I didn't see one or I would have tried it out!  (If I could have pried the JP out of your hands.  LOL)
Just checked with Thomann, just shipped today so will be with me in probably 3 days. Next problem, can't use it until the replacement Hotplate arrives as I currently don't have a cab.
you don't need no stinkin hot plate!  Plug that sucker into a cab and let er rip!

Comprehensive reading is helpful Howie.  ;)
GET ONE! No cab = no rock and no roll, both of which are BAD!

I have the Two Notes Torpedo Cab which is why I need the hotplate :)   Don't need a real cab at the moment.
Jon,

I know you.  I think you won't be satisfied without a cab FOR LONG.  Maybe for a while, but you need to hear and feel that thing.  The thread title is "cannot resist."  I think that's how you'll be feeling about a cab soon, if you really dig this amp.  Might as well just get one!  Come on now.  We're all counting on you!

Jon+Tube amp+ speaker cab = Happy Jon!

Yep, you are probably right, but for the moment the Torpedo CAB is just what I need as I haven't played "live" in a year or so now, but if/when I need to again I will just get a cab.  The important thing is to have a real amp at the front of the chain.  I've been down every amp modeller road you could go down and none of them live up to the hype without exception.  Soundwise they come close, but from performance/feel factor they are still a million miles away.

I kinda feel the same way Jon. However one of these days I am redoing my Pod Bean experience for recording only. When I listen back to my Pod XT minxes, I am pretty impressed with the tone, and the Tonelab Tabletop is simply not up to snuff these days (too noisy really).  The Super Champ X2 is one recording monster from the trial I did with it. It is just as easy to mike that up as do it any other way.
Yay :)  The amp arrived today !

Boo :( Got nothing to plug in into until the replacement hotplate arrives
Turn that frown, upside down.  Get a cab!  LOL

It is tempting, but I just don't need one taking up space at the moment. I've just aquired a new (very large) customer and my hosting business has ratcheted up a gear or two so at the moment the house is full of servers and UPS's and storage systems etc that I am setting up.  Two sets of everything.  The main server sits at the office at home and the backup server sits in the office that I rent about 15 miles away. I have to have the main server and other systems at home because I have a fibre connection at home but can't get fibre at the office...yet, not for another year or so.

To be quite honest, business is booming....Recession, what recession  :)
Glad to hear that!!!

(Now take all that money and buy a cab!   ;D )
Why are you running your clients on servers out of your home? There must be collocation in England, so you must have some reason for this, but I can't fathom it...

Because I can.  I have a purpose built office/server room at home.  I do most of my work from home so it makes sense to have everyone to hand. I rent an office a few miles away and that is where I have my backup server and heaps of backup drives.  Why pay someone else when you can do it yourself !
Jon, would you do some clips already?   I got a great deal on a cab/speaker (I only wanted the speaker, but the deal was too good to pass up) and I now have more cabs than I can even get in my music room!  If you were here, I'd hook you up!!

I just got an almost new Private Jack (I wanted another greenback type) in a convertible closed/open back cab for $120 in MINT condition. The seller was local so I didn't even have to pay shipping.

This weekend.....I promise  :)

Just listen to Jon's clips he did with the Kemper Profile of his JCH20 he had...trust me, they'll sound as good if not better than the clips you're waiting for of the new amp.  :)
I love Jon's Profiles of his JCH20, they sound killer!
