The Watering Hole

The wife is in bed, so I had to go the quiet route to try to record this thing. I plugged the USB 'out' on the amp to my computer hoping to get something. And I did. These recordings are from the USB 'out' on my amp straight to my computer.
They aren't great, and you don't hear the speakers pushing the air I hear on my end. But anyhoo...you wanted clips...

And me just noodling on a 'brown sound' kinda thingy...

And I just spent about 10 minutes going back and playing on the channels I recorded. The USB out on this thing sounds nothing like the amp live. The tonal depth is completely missing.

Oh well. I'm a happy camper whether you guys like the clips or not :)
need a cab model on it or something like that - sounds a bit like a direct out from an amp.

edit:
hmm, ok, I watched that vid in the other thread - that's what this thing sounds like I guess :)

maybe trim the lows and a little ultra high cut? the middle of it is nice - rockmaster-ish.
I think these sound pretty good.  It doesn't sound miked, it sounds direct, but direct in the modern modeller sense... and that's the amazing part... ten years ago going direct out of your amp meant cheese grater harshness, now it's a modelled output with fx and speaker sims on so many amps.  I am interested to hear your take on this, and especially that it seems to play pretty effortlessly from your clips and sounds pretty darn good.  I did not like any of these amps when I tried them, but I haven't been a fan of recent Peavey stuff... though I thought the Windsor was amazing...
Ironsheep hit it. The smooth crunchy mids on the JSX model on the Tube version of this amp are characteristic of the Rockmaster (a Fav around here some time ago for you noobs). Which also goes to Charger's point that it seems easy to play. It is, because the compression on the different amp models are similar to the real amps (at least on the higher gain models). My actual JXS was easy to play because of the tight, built in, compression it had when the gain was pushed upward. Alas....the same is so for the JSX model on this amp. Tightly compressed, and easy to play through.

I know the Vypyr's pre-gain preamps are analog (not actually from the 12AX-7 in it). That's prolly what makes 'em so crispy and tight. But somewhere between the analog driven pre to the tube driven speaker output, some true tube tone is created. In simple words....the sound I get is (live) crunchy AND deep.

Other thingies I learned from recording this amp for the first time:
-I have to turn the GAIN down on the amp when recording straight in. Live, 5 is killer. I recorded the above clips on 4. And those were still too stout.

Hey!  I still have one loaded with NOS Mullards AND Ironsheep mojo!  ;)  :)
Definitely a good overdrive sound there. A little bright for my taste, but nice for what type of sound you are aiming at. It sounds as real as can be to me.
not bad for an amp direct out.
