The Watering Hole

Here's a few that caught my fancy:

Dave Murray Strat (I can't believe they put this one out now! I've been lusting for a DM Signature Strat since I was 16):

Eric Johnson RW Strat (noice!):

Ritchie's!!

How 'bout the new "road worn" series? They look really nice on those pics (although I suspect they won't look that good in person):

One of these will definitely be my next guitar.
Major GAS!!!!!!

Anyone check one of these out? Chris (Dearth)?
I haven't checked out the new Fender stuff.  I've been gassing over the new Mesa Mark V.

The last time our Fender rep was in, he said he got to see Eric Johnson at Fender Headquarters for the internal company unveiling and the reception was very good.

I don't care for the neck on the maple fretted Johnson.  Too chuncky for a Strat neck.

Believe it or not, the Sig model I like is the John Mayer.  Great feel, and I luv the pickups.

For non-sigs, I like the US Classic Players 60's Strat.  Killer little axe.
I'm actually GASing for the Blackmore Strat the most. I've always wanted one of these.
It's made in Mexico though - not sure if this is a bad thing - never played a Mexican made Strat...

The Dave Murray Strat would be my number 1, but it has a V-shaped neck and that's a major dealbreaker for me. I can't stand V-shaped necks, even very soft ones.
Can't tell from the pics, but does the Blackmore one have a sculpted fretboard?
Yes, gradually "sculpted"  ;)
The new road-worn series looks that good in person, and plays great.

I played one of the Teles, and it was awesome. It better be, though, for a beat up guitar that costs $950.

At least they got that part right!
I'd be down for the Blackmore.  You can have the rest.

I still cannot justify spending 1G for a fucking beat up guitar, whose wounds have no stories.  That's just GAY to me.
I like the "Yngwie" but with no scallop. Which is why I got my white one with the 70's headstock  ;)

I played a strat and it DID feel really good! Like an old pair of good ol Levi jeans.... :)

FWIW, I just bought the Blackmore Strat!
Just had to! Olympic white, big headstock, Bullet truss rod, graduated "sculpted" board... too YUMMY!

Cool! Which model did you get?
70's classic?
Any pics?
Chris,

I don't like that guitar.  I think you should send it too me for testing, and see if that changes my mind.   :)

You know I likes me some white strat with the big head stock.  I love Lances strat.  Did you get (does it even come in) maple fingerboard?
Hey Howie!

I really loved Lances Strat aswell!

Nope, the Blackmore one only comes with a RW board. But me likey anyways!
Fortunately, I already have a YJM Strat with a Maple fretboard and big headstock (in sonic blue though).

Chris, (the foreign one  :))  That's ok then.  I guess just have it shipped to you.  You can play it better than I can anyway!    Congrats my friend.  That's a nice score.

And the other Chris (American one) score a nice strat too, (above) which he may never live down with Fender MF Bender!  LMAO

I love my strat.  I REALLY!!!!! wish it was white.  Great neck, love the pickups, etc.  But MAN is it heavy.  No question, it's the heaviest one I've ever played.  But it FEELS good!
Wow Chris, that's GREAT bro! Totally missed that!
All white - I love it! Not sure why, but that particular color always makes me want to "bite" into that guitar...
Now, if it even smells like case candy I actually would
haha, so far I had 2 different Blackmore Strats over!

Both absolute disasters!
One had the nut cut by what must have been the biggest douche at the Fender Mexico factory.
The strings were not centered but cut way off center plus the frets were beveled back so much that you could not play the high E string at all. It would slip off the fretboard at the slightest contact!!!!
How this one passed quality control is beyond me.

The second Blackmore Strat I got was good but the neck pocket was cut so loose that the neck was constantly moving when I was not careful when putting my hand on the neck.
Loose neckpockets plus 3-bolt necks do not go well together!
The bridge was the usual bad quality zinc MIM bridge. The volume and tone knobs were so easy to turn, they would turn if I blinked my eyes...

At that price, I would have expected a little more attention to the way these are made and to the hardware used.

All in all, this experience was enough to put me off this model.
Too bad - because it looked cool and sounded quite good with the QuarterPounders.
