Whoa...any of you played this one yet?
WOW....what a cool little amp.
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Egnater-Products-Rebel-20-20W-Tube-Guitar-Amp-Head-105005524-i1423761.gc

You can go from 1 to 20 loud watts, with a knob...blend EL84's & 6V6's, and go from Fender clean to Marshall Gain....no shit!

The 2/12 can be turned into an open back if you like.

This little puppy is unbelievable and can go from a killer club amp to a fantastic recording amp.
Try one out the next time you're at GC.

Randy

Bruce and Rhinehold make killer amps. :)
wow... I think I just found my next amp!
sound is everything!  But the more I find out about this amp, the more I believe that my last statement could be true!  6v6 and EL34 power!  Blend between the two!!!  Scalable between 20 watts and 1!!!  I don't EVER need more than 20 watts.  This sucker is listed for $599 at GC!  I've been on a Rivera hunt for several years now.  But I could sell my Classic 30, and a pedal or two, and get this thing.

Plus I ALWAYS get discounts off what GCs listed price is....   OMG, I've got to check this out!

I feel like Rex, with all the !!!!!!!!!!!!!!    ;)
Hey Howie, go play it.
I walked in and a GC rep was running it through its paces and it really rocked.

He was running it through an Egnater 2/12 cab with Celestion Vintage 30's and it pushed them with ease.
The Egnater cab can be changed between closed back and open back with ease.

In GC, they were referring to this Egnater amp as the Dr. Z killer or Boutique amp killer.
I've got to admit, the price is right but I'm sure it's a PCB amp and not hand wired or point to point.
Even saying that...it has a helluva sound and really rides the fence between club and recording amp with ease.

Let us know what you think about it after you play it.

Randy
Ah, I sent you an e-mail asking if you had played it before I saw this post.  So, what all did the guy do with it?  Did he run the range between clean and max gain?  I've been on a Rivera hunt for a while, since they have such a great fender clean channel and a great Marshall OD channel.  This amp is single channel, which is the only downside I see so far.  But the reviews so far are off the charts.
I saw the guy run a Strat through it, as well as a Gretsch hollow body and a Gibson solid body.
All 3 sounded great...and I do mean great.

Howie, I watched the guy go from 1w to 20w and everything in between.
He also adjusted the gain in many variances as well.

There's also 2 switches on that amp too...uhh...one would make it tighter or more loose sounding, and I forget what the other one did.

In any position...it sounded great and all 3 guitars would just sing.
You've got to play it for yourself though for sure.

Give us a review when you do.

bummer.... I went to GC last night AND they had one in stock.  Unfortunately, they are moving to a bigger store, and since it had just got in, they were under strict orders not to open any new arrivals since they are moving next week.  That said, he kept hinting that he wanted to hear it (remember my contact there is the manager) and he kept acting like if I really wanted to try it, they'd get it out.

They also had two cabs in stock a 1x12 and a 2x12.  I'm not really interested in the cab at this point, since I have 3 1x12s now.  But I might be in the future.

Anyway, he got to hear the demo by Bruce and his rep IN PERSON.  He said that the amp sounded really good and that he got to "tweak the amp himself while someone else played" and that he had no trouble dialing in anything from Fender clean to Metal tones.  He said there was a ton of buzz about it at the store.  I told him I didn't mind waiting a couple weeks until they were settled in the new place, to come check it out.

I'm all over this one.  But I'm also going to keep an eye out for the Renegade that's coming in a few months...
Played it. LOVED IT.

Don't need it, so I won't buy it, but if I needed it, I would in a heartbeat. It's a FANTASTIC little amp - it'd be great for recording because of how many incredible tones you can get out of it.

Randy and I have something else in common... :)

Now if they could only make a version with an all-analog signal path but with digital, MIDI-controllable pots so that you could save the settings and really exploit the flexibility of tones in this wonderful amp.

I still don't understand why more amp makers don't do that...then you get the glorious glassiness of tubes with the flexibility of digital control.

Yep, it is a cool little amp and if I hadn't just bought my little Tungsten 5E3 clone...I would buy the Egnater also.

My custom Egnater WAS MIDI controllable so it's not the amp maker, probably a cost consideration.
Trip, not surprised here.  Tons of clips floating around at The Gear Page, and all at different gain levels, and they ALL sound good.

I think I'm going to have to get me one of these.

P.S.  search for a clip of the new Renegade that's coming out in a few months.  HOLY SMOKES!  It has EL34 or 6L6, two channels, you can select the tubes or blend for EACH channel....  If I were a real player, I'd wait for one of those.  20 watts is plenty for me though.

Two words: Stereo Rig!!! ;)
My buddy's got an Egnater Mod 50 combo, and it's seriously one of the best-sounding 1x12" combos I've ever heard. When I found out Bruce was going to be making amps to sell at GC, I was worried, but then I played a Tourmaster, and was impressed, though not completely blown away. Then I played this little bitch, and WHOA! If the Renegade is like this but with two channels, I might consider it.
