finally decided to get one - glad I did. not sure how "useable" it is in general but it's damn fun! puts out some pretty killer autowah.
need to get reamping set up, then it'll be way more useful.
clip through uber, I've only had it since last night - it's capable of much cooler stuff than this.
That's very cool! How does the rate change on it? It was always in a musical timing I noticed.
it's triggered by playing intensity - so if I pick harder it kicks in. pretty neat!
Wow, that would be a fun one! That sounds like something Charger would dig.
Wow, is the distortion from the riddle or the amp? It sounds much more controlled than the other EH dynamically controlled filters I've heard.
amp distortion on that clip - I didn't have the distortion from the pedal engaged on this but it does sound really good - but it's not all that crazy, sorta like a tubescreamer or fulldrive.
Sounds fuckin MEAN. LIKE! 8-)
got the riddle's distortion sound sort of isolated - no envelope happening. it's maxed out. pedal off at the start, echoplex kicked in at the end because it's cooler. heh.
note: it sounds better when not maxed out (like at the end of the clip when playing softer)
Sounds pretty dang nice all around. Now I need to investigate that pedal, and I almost thought I was done buying EH with my current stock.
Do you have an xotic EP boost btw? That's one of several pedals out there that is specifically built to replicate the gain stage of the echoplex. I'm building my own "echoplex gain stage" variant pedal as well.
nah, I never tried that out. there was supposed to be a way to run without tape and get the preamp sound... can't remember what that was about. just being in "echo off" mode has some tone impact, but not much.
I'm getting interested in a POG and/or microsynth now. EH is great, except for all the wall warts. heh.
They've got a new pedal that has a pog into an electric mistress into a holy grail reverb in one. I'm intrigued. Problem with EH is that every pedal they make, I can probably find a use for, and they make probably 70 pedals.
I've watched those ruppert effectology vids thinking "man, that's awesome, I could use that sound!"... then it starts sinking in that it would cost me a ton of cash in pedals, not to mention finding room for 4 or 5 more wall warts. heh, it's hard to resist though - their stuff is so cool.
You just need to get some of these:

Charger, haven't heard any more on this... at one point you said all most all your EH pedals were down with issues. Did they fix them? I was hot on a couple but the reliability issues you had turned me off to them. Updates?
The only one that ended up being dead is my Cathedral reverb. I'm not sure what's wrong with it, but in the meantime I acquired a whole bunch more reverb pedals so I gave up on it. My Germanium Muff was weird for a while but I took it apart and replaced a pot that had come apart. I was not thrilled with that because it's a friggin nightmare to get those pedals out of their cases, and back in, and really, a pot shouldn't go bad. The Memory Boy Deluxe delay is still going strong, and sounds amazing... what we thought was a problem with a pedal turned out to be a dying expression pedal. I haven't taken it apart yet but I'm guessing it needs a new pot. We've got three or four other EH pedals in the studio that haven't had any problems.
But yeah, for a while I was pretty disappointed. Especially considering the fact that all of their pedals are full of microcontrollers and surface mount components, and almost unrepairable, I think their 1-year warranty is a little on the light side. I'm tempted to send them my Cathedral anyway and see if they fix it or quote me a repair price.
Sheep, you need to get a multi power supply... we use One Spots with everything in the studio. If you need a 12v or 15v, there are pedal supplies that will do that too. On the cheap side, I am really craving the Joyo JP-02, which has 8x9v, 1x12v, and 1x18v output, all regulated and separate. Only downside is the annoying blue LEDs it has for every connection, but it's almost half as cheap as the next comparable product.
