DM - You have a 007? Still liking it?

Dicked around with the 15 combo at GC. Taking inventory of my unused gear to sell now. :)

15 watts is way more than I need these days but it sounded and felt really good even at low volumes. A bit on the warm side (dark per reviews) but - I could dime the treble and no piercing highs. Even so, the highs were there - that is a plus for my taste. There was a nice complexity and harmonic content in the cleans (3D.) No eye crossing pick attack or harshness. Lovely bloom and the tone controls worked!

Not perfect - the noise was above noticeable on the 'High' structure setting when idle, but I have never had a high gain amp that didn't have that feature. Single channel - no switching for the gain structure. It was $649, so a little spendy for me. It seemed pretty damn heavy for an old man...

I could probably get any recorded tone that "I" would need out of it. It sounded so damn good I want one now! :)
Hey Tobe.  I do still have the 7 watt Bassbreaker.  I like it.  It's a little different than the 15.  I believe the 15 has a 6V6 Power Tube.  The 7 is a EL84.  I do like a 6V6 though.  I have a VHT Special 6 Ultra that I got from Howie.  I love the cleans that I get from that amp.   I put a New Production Mueller 6V6 in it.  A little gain and it has nice dirt.  Takes Pedals well.

The Bassbreaker 7 is more gainy.  A lot like the lead channel of the old Peavey Classic 30 I had, but much more manageable at home at 7 watts.  It's a keeper.  Pretty dirty from the get-go.

Edit:  I was wrong about the tubes in the 15.  It's 2 EL84's.  I knew there was a difference in the larger models though.  The Bassbreaker 45 has EL34's.  So, It should be similar to the 007, just a hell of a lot louder. ;D
Got one. Only had the combos in stock. Sigh...

GC had 'em on sale $50 off and I bit. Rings me up and grabs the one on the floor. It's the last one of course...

Against better judgement (and after verifying the 45 day return) I brought it home. The ambient noise in GC is usually above conversation dbs so I didn't hear the 60 cycle mechanical hum coming from the transformer. I can push down on the top of the amp in the center of the handle and stop the noise. You can feel it vibrating! :) Weird too, it is not loud but it fills the whole room and is quite annoying.

Also it has the dreaded fx loop hum. Nasty buzz when anything is in the loop. New ones have a 'fix' by using a plastic send jack.

Must be a return or old-old stock. Fuckers.

I generally equate Fender=decent quality. I am debating returning and getting another - maybe order the head. The damn thing sounds pretty good but I'm a little wary.
Bummer that it has an issue.  I would return it and get a New in Box model.  I bought my 007 from Sweetwater, I think and it came double boxed.  The Fender box still had the factory staples never opened.

I listened to your track above.  I'll give it a go sometime.  I haven't been playing much lately, but I liked the track and that might be the needed push to plug in and play.  Of course, I'll use the Bassbreaker.

I didn't listen to your take yet.  I'll wait on that till I have a go.
The more I record and noodle the more I like it. Nice range in one box.

I'll throw a few clips up if I get some good ones.

Mid gain structure has a nice crunch in there.
