The Watering Hole

Mine came on Thursday.  It is the Honeyburst model.  It is a vintage mahogany with a maple top and P90's. The 60's version has the thinner neck profile.  The 50's Tribute had the 50's style neck.  I have been looking at various P90 guitars for a while.  I have a Korean Hamer and PRS Soapbar II which have both been tweaked.  Another guitar has Z90's in it.  I like the vibe, and wanted something to go with my 05 Standard.  This is a nice fit.

The body is a 3 piece off center joined back (chambered) with a plan 2 piece male top.  The finish gives it a masked binding type look. It has a plek'ed nut (I am not really sure what that means exactly). It was set up pretty well and plays nicely.  It sounds very good.  It has a nice P90 voice and the chambered body makes it relatively light with a vibe like a semi-hollow tele in ways.  The fit and finish are in the vintage mahogany or SG range. Fretwork is pretty good.  The tuners are tight and solid. The stoptail is a little higher than I would like (like all modern LP's save vintage) so it will get a top wrap and readjustment.  I actually like the way that plays on my 05 so that works for me anyway.

I am pretty happy with this one ... a great working guitar with little need for improvements.
Good luck with it Doc...
Sounds cool. Can't wait to see and here it!
Thanks!  I spent more time with it after I did much of the set up and it really plays well.  I don't but it does.  I am having fun with it.  I like the top wrap on the LP's and that goes a long way with the feel for me I think.
Little easier to bend?
My hands are getting so bad I use 9's of my LP's so bending is not much of an issue any more.  The tone seems slightly more articulate and the sustain a small bit longer. I would guess that this is really 98% psychological at least though.  I just have this misguided notion LP's (or similar) should have a stop tail tight to the body.  Something about it not being so just looks off to me.  The same can be said for no pickguard on an LP to me.  There are a lot of great players (and not) who feel otherwise.
I was roughing in ideas for the next piece yesterday with the LPT.  Here is a clip of it for a rowdy 12 barre thing.  LPT>Skreddy SD>Tweaker>Blue Dog>P-30 as usual.

Nice
Thanks!  The turn around I initially constructed would not fit into the time structure.  I am not sure I like this one as yet but for now it will do.   I found a lead structure I like with it as yet.  It took a year to work out the riff the way I liked so I have time on that part now that I have the ideas roughed in and recorded.
