What's up with the "T" series?  Musiczoo has them at ridiculously low prices right now for US Gibsons.  They've got push-pull coil taps, nice tops, etc.  Is there something I'm missing? Are these secretly Chinese?

Wondered the same thing when I got this yesterday.

These prices are lower than you can find them for used.  I'm a little shocked...
Sweetwater's got several on sale as well.  They've got some very nice SG's going for under $500.

Check the specs.
Granadillo fretboard...the same crap builders use for kitchen tops.
Chambered body.
Nashville bridge.
Plastic nut.

But hey, it's says Gibson on the headstock and it's made in the USA.  ;)

To qualify as a Gibson dealer in the USA (or any other country) you have to accept certain conditions.
You have to spend $100,000 on your first order and then the same amount ever year.
You can't choose what models you want to keep/buy.
You can't choose colours either.
They send you what they choose to send you.
End result, you end up with unsellable guitars that nodody wants to buy and you end up selling them at 'cost' to get rid of them.

I dunno, those are some really pretty guitars.  I own an LP that doesn't have the chambered body, and consequently weighs a ton, so I think chambering is a nice feature.  I also applaud Gibson stepping away from all the rare woods they've been using... Almost all rosewood is endangered, Brazilian rosewood just shouldn't be harvested at all anymore, if it's not from old furniture it shouldn't be used.  Granadillo is harder and denser than the common rosewoods, and far more sustainable at this point, so I'm okay with it, especially if you can find it in the right color for a fretboard.  Hell I've got teak, canary, maple, ebony, and honduran/amazon/indian/brazilian rosewood fretboards, I'm not picky...

I'd love a Tokai though... what happened to your post? You removed all the pictures and pricing info barely a day after you posted it.

Yeah Lance, heck with that.  Even if someone isn't interested, or is but doesnt' have the money right now, pics of guitars like that are NEVER annoying!  This is sort of a guitarist based forum, you know!   :)
another vote for all the guitar pictures here. not in the market but always like looking anyway.
Hey Lance!

Irritate away.  ;) :D ;D
I'd love to see the pricing, and other styles as well.  Those are some pretty nice looking pieces.

Were there any animals harmed in the posting of those????

Thanks for posting those Lance.  The quality looks amazing and the pricing seems to be excellent in comparision.

Are you only selling the LP?
I sell Strats and Tele's here, but only have a few left.  Lance sells all of them.

Hey Lance, I'll trade you two Tele's for that quilted blueburst one!   ;D ;D

lol, I hardly have any Teles or Strats left...I have two Teles and two Strats.
If I could get all the Teles and Strats you have left to SAfrica without shipping costs I'd take them all.  :)

Howie, you know what I charge music stores here in SA for the Strats and Teles you have, $770.00.
If I sell privately I charge $890.00.
What insane price are you selling them for in the US, I've forgotten?
I wish I had the cash and less debt - I'd grab a strat from one of you guys.
Lance,

I have strats and teles for $599 including case, and shipping and paypal are included in that!  You are right. It's crazy that I have any left.  The ONLY reason I do, is that TGP deletes "For sale" threads every 45 days.  Every time I sell 4-5 of them, get TONS of great feedback and guys saying they are premium instruments at bargain price, the thread gets deleted and I have no "reviews" in the public eye anymore, and I start over.  When the last wave hit I sold 5 in 3 weeks.  That thread got deleted and none sold for over a month.  The momentum is gone, guys who followed the tread lose it when it gets deleted, all your great reviews that push other guys to buy are deleted along with the thread, etc...

One guys bought a white strat (which I am not out of now) from me at TGP, .  His band mate played it and immediately contacted me to buy one. I told him I was out and that I had the last one.  He has offered me up to $750 for mine.  I told him thanks, but NO WAY!  I think he'd pay more if I told him I'd sell it.  He LOVES the one I sold his buddy.  I also have a guy right now who would by almost anything but sunburst strats, which is all I have.  He said he'd take white, red, Daphne blue, black, surf green, and almost any other color.

I haven't had one person who bought them who didn't immediately say it was worth well over what I sold them for.  I've had at least 3 guys say they will buy another one (if I still have them) in a few months (next time they've saved up guitar money) because they like the one they bought so much.

Hey, I'm comfortable enough with my manhood to play it.  Would you?  LOL   :D

I'll hook you up with some pizza next time you're in and available!   ;D  :)
The Pink Paisley is a killer Les Paul, only the colour is different from a regular LS92 plaintop.

Tokai don't make a Pink Paisley Les Paul.
I custom ordered them, thought it would be cool to have such an unusual Les Paul.

For the last 4 years a stock LS92 (LS85) Gold Top and LS100F (LS95F) have been Peter Hanmers go to guitars in his studio and live.

Btw, have you guys checked out the specs on the new Gibson 2014 range.
http://www2.gibson.com/Gibson-USA-2014.aspx

Crazy stuff happening at Gibson right now.

"New: Innovation no other manufacturer can match"

No more fret edge nibs, just straight neck binding
"Fly over the fingerboard with undercut fret over binding".  ;D...everyone else has been doing this for decades.

"One-piece fingerboards enhance sustain". Hmm, everyone uses one piece fingerboards, Henry.

No more nickle plating on hardware, being replaced by chrome.  :-?

Graphtec nut (that the Plek machine will fuckup)

120th decal inlay on the 12th fret.

How about this one.
"New Model Year serial numbering system enhances collectability"  ::)

I don't give a sh*te, I'm not a Gibson fanboy, but I think will piss off quite a few fanboys.
I was a fanboy until a few years ago when Fenderbender (Matt) posted a photo of the 'rocker' neck joint...that turned me off.

Hey guys,

long time no see!
How's everyone doing? :)

Just wanted to add a little review. I bought a Tokai LS100F from Lance a few months ago. Got a super nice Iced Tea burst finish.
Best Les Paul style guitar I've ever owned (I previously had 2 Standard Faded back in 2005, 1 black 2007 Custom, 1 2010 CS Axcess, 1 Standard 2008, 1 Traditional 2009 - all Gibsons).

The best Gibson I had was the Custom Shop Axcess - but the Tokai is every bit as good, even slightly better: flawless workmanship, solid (no swiss cheese holes or chambering) woods, immaculate binding (never had that on a Gibson - there's always some binding somewhere sticking out), perfect clean soldering in the cavity - even the stock pickups were quite good.
And the best thing: this came with Jumbo frets - no wimpy narrow and low vintage frets!
Also, the pricing is incredible! 1/4th the price of the Axcess I had - and even better sound and play-wise.

I work and live in Athens/Greece these days, and the country is a mess (as you probably know). The local post office (worst I've ever seen!) even managed to loose the guitar for like 10 days. But Lance was top class - he was all over them and made sure they found it - even in all this chaos - best service ever!!!!

All I can say is - this was my best blind guitar purchase - and I'm already saving up for another Tokai (gotta get one in Cherry red).
So Lance, thanks again for that beautiful guitar!

Hey Chris, good to see you.   Glad you are digging the Tokai.  I'm not surprised, given the quality of the Strat and Tele style Tokai's I have.  They are much nicer than anything else in their price range. Enjoy that guitar!
Hey Howie! How you doing bro?

Yeah - I was a tad sceptical at first - but when Lance told me I could send it back if I did not like it, there was no reason for me not to try one.

And now I won't even consider buying a Gibson ever again... there's just no point in it for me - the Tokai is that good!
Doing well Chris, hope you are too.

Yes, with about 20 strat and tele style Tokais going through my hands, I agree completely.  I have one of the strats and will either be getting another one, or an LP style like yours.
