Well, er, relatively speaking.
You can get a handwired Tubescreamer for $350, which contains the same old parts of any other tubescreamer, just done on point to point board:

Or you can get this, handwired, on turret boards, with solid wire, killer parts, big paper film caps, carbon comp resistors, a metal can opamp, for $165:

Their hybrid fuzz face/big muff is also beautiful internally, and $199...

They freely admit that their designs are all from well-known schematics and that you are paying for parts and labor, not R&D. Note that I don't actually believe at pedal level voltages, many of these parts make much of an audible difference.  But talk about a work of art, and at a great price... last time I checked, prymaxe vintage had over 160 overdrive pedals that cost $199 or more... and they're all PCB construction, mostly by machines. These are truly beautiful, made in Canada, and I think there are enough cork-sniffers out there that it's only a matter of time before the pricing goes up.

that fuzz is very intriguing... might be worth trying instead of the '70... hmm. I really like the ptp, just looks so cool. some day I will acquire a germino for pretty much that reason alone... heh.
