Here is a pict of the Les Paul on it's way home to poppa. It will be for sale rather cheap as it has a history that cannot be authenticated, although I did buy it at a music store back in the mid/late 1980's. I will tell the story to any prospective buyer. According to a luthier I used to know who just passed on (Chris Scott of eastern Penna), he claimed it was a late 1950's model although I can't assure any one of that fact. It has 2 Seymour Duncan Distortion pups, I don't know what I did with the original pups.

Maybe I'll keep it, maybe not. I will see when it arrives and set it up. The thing weighs mucho pounds, I can tell you that. It is a Les Paul Custom with ebony fingerboard and I had Jumbo frets installed when I put in the EMG actives, (EMG's which got yanked out the next day to make room the Duncans).

Damn, welcome home beauty! Love the color!
Have it rewired with push-pull pots to split the coils etc gives you a wonderful range of single coil and humbucker sounds.

Thanks Jon, but I do all my wiring it is as simple as looking at a schematic and soldering just like in the picture.
Wow, nice !!  ;)
My kid tells me it is a 1950's model, I can't substantiate that, because I had an inlay put where the old serial number was. I wanted to make sure that I could spot it from afar if it was ever stolen. Anyways his childhood friend Chris Scott was a luthier in Eastern Pennsylvania and he was the go to guy for Gibson for repairs under warranty. He just passed away a few weeks ago. The booze got his Liver and away he went. Anyways Chris told him it was a fifties model. Too bad because it would probably be worth 10 grand if that were true and I could prove it.
Looks good.  love to see some more pics of it when it arrives.

That's what I thought when I first decided to do my guitar. I bought the parts and then set about doing it and then in a moment of clarity I thought "leave it to the pro's" and then had it done by a local guitar tech....good choice.   There are so many wires in the "jimmy page" wiring setup that I have that it is really easy to lose track of what goes where.

I been doing that stuff on my own for so long, it is almost second nature to me Jon, I file my own frets, do rewires and all kinds of stuff. But if it got that complicated I would probably go to someone who understood it better, but my wiring needs are pretty simple, so I just have a go at it myself usually.
It helps to have a friend who is really good at this stuff... my buddy Joe does my wiring, and provides handy-dandy diagrams... this is the wiring for the new strat (middle tone knob is a blend for the rear coil of the bridge pickup)...

Here's a typical "Jimmy Page" wiring diagram

Weight:
27.80 lbs <<<<<<<<<<<< probably most of the weight is the guitar

Harv

Check the serial number, I'm betting it's later than a 1969...if I'm not mistaken the 1954 Customs were all black...different finishes were only introduced after 1969.

EDIT: Sorry, just read you covered the serial number.  :)

If it's heavy it will weigh about 13lbs...that would snap my back in two.  :)

Thanks Lance, it is more of a sale item in my mind than a players item, although things may change once I get my hands on it.
