Now that I have this marvellous Canon HF S10 HD camcorder none of my pc's are up to the job for editing video, so I'm thinking is time to get a MAC....but which one?
Any ideas/advice without breaking the bank?
Portable or non-portable?
I recently snagged a lightly used and fairly new MacBook Pro that was a great deal. What made the deal sweeter was all the software the guy left on it (Adobe Creative Suite and newest MS Office). The guy had used it like a desktop plugged into another monitor and keyboard and generally had the lid closed, so the screen and keyboard were mint. The only negative is the battery needs to be replaced because he left it plugged in at the time. Even with that, I got a great deal.
Another option is to go to the online Apple Store and look for their Factory Refurbished area (it's in the lowest box of the Apple Store Website titled 'Why Buy at the Apple Store).
I'm looking for the cheapest option with the best results. I've just paid $1,300 (£800) for the camera, so I would like to spend less than that on the Mac (if that's possible), so portable or desktop I don't mind either. I will look at the apple website as you suggested, I presume they do something similar here in UK?
Hey Jon! I did some searching and finally found a Mac that's less than $1,300! And it's BIG! :D

The problem is, that is a big mac and I was hoping for something smaller :-). Acually I think I will go to the local apple store at lakeside and test out a mini-mac as that looks like good value

Here ya go! ;D

that's more of a "palm top", way too small...try again :-)
I just tried some different software on the pc and now I realise that the pc is fine it was the software that I was using that was making editing HD un-useable. I was using Adobe Premiere Pro and it just eats up 100% of system resource when trying to edit any video. I'm now using Sony Vegas Pro and that allows me to edit the HD video files straight off the camera with no problem at all, really excellent software. I shall give the green-screen milarky a go this weekend and see what happens!
