... you can not do better than this.  For the woods involved, these bodies are dirt cheap.  I've got one on order and so does my studio partner.  Paying $115 for a body, you typically get something Chinese with a solid finish on it and who knows what kind of wood underneath... I have never seen anything like this at this price.

Ahhh....The ups and DOWNS of book matched wood!
that is ridiculously beautiful. a warmoth body with spalted maple runs 4-500 bucks easily. i know because my strat i built has one that cost me handsomely
yeah Craig, have to hand it too you.  That was a good one.   ;D
Chase, you're talking finished, right?

My buddy and I have been working on our bodies, his cost $100, mine $120.  Those little black lines in spalted maple are no joy to get grain-filled and smooth.  My buddy's guitar is ready to spray with clear coats, we did three coats of grain filler and three coats of garnet shellac and it looks stellar.  Mine needs one more coat of grain filer, then 2-3 shellac coats, then it will be ready to spray.

The various costs break down all kinds of different ways... but get some finishing supplies including a small but workable compressor, a cheap but good spray gun, the various finishes needed, and tons of sandpaper, and you're in the 4-500 range.  It's immensely cool to finish your own stuff, though.  Very satisfying.  Pics in this thread.
My body, grain-filled, still wet.  Still needs one more coat of grain filler.

My buddy's body, grain-filled and shellaced, ready to spray.  The shellac yellows the body to a much warmer tone... it's subtle but note that both pictures were taken at the same time, under the same lighting conditions.

They look great, I prefer HSS routing, and I prefer to put the tele control plate a little higher on the neck end and towards the neck an inch or so. I have the templates (somewhere) for the routing. I went there to their site and saw that they do allow for custom routing. so I might just price one soon
