When I bought the Jet City JCA20H I didn't get a cab for it as I was planning on using it with IR's only for recording, but I must admit I really do miss the sound of the amp in the room with real air flapping the trousers, so I ordered the JS12 1x12 cabinet for the amp.

It just arrived and I must say it really has a nice sound and for such a low price too ....only £80  (approx $132).

Eminence speaker inside and it really compliments the amp well.

Back in business again  :)
I'm still watching those amps on ebay, but since they were barely over $200 new, and you can't seem to get one for less than that used, I'll probably try the new two channel model instead.

Glad you are digging the cab.  Should be a good rig for cheap!.
Still love the voicing of the JC stuff. They simply nailed it from the get go. Curious to see if they ever someday come out with a REALLY high gain model that retains the current flavor (sans a mod).

Congrats on the cab.  :)

D, my standing answer to that is always "add the OCD!"   ;D  For amps which sound great but you just want more gain, the OCD is almost always a perfect solution.
Doesn't always work though, least not for me. I remeber having the JCA 20 for a while, and even with the gain dimed, hitting it with the OCD just puhed it into squealy territory! Kinda reminded me of the stock jcm 800 actually - same thing, without "gobs" of gain on tap, too much "pedal" to copensate can become undesirable! I think it's just preference, I seem to just like having a ton of gain on the amp, then dialing it down a good bit to where the amp sounds best, then adding the pedal for just the right mojo as opposed to "trying" to make a medium gain amp something it's not! For that medium gain crunch on the cheap though, I think the Jet City stuff is tough to beat.

The jet city stuff really is voiced just where I want it to be.  I'm not a big fan of tons of gain and I only have the gain about mid way or even less, but with the thing cranked digging in enables me to go from cleanish to really nice breakup/drive.  I'm loving it even more now that I have the cab, should have done that from the start !   I've also been thinking about getting the JC pico valve (clone of the THD univalve but only $300)

I agree though. Didn't necessarily mean pushing a mid gain amp to high gain. I meant more like pushing any gain up a notch or two.

I haven't played tons of amps, but I've never played one that sounded its best with the gain dimed. Even if that was how much gain you wanted.  you are better to get a higher gain amp you can get that gain level from while lower on the gain knob.

The Tweaker is a good example of what I mean.  IMO, it sounds great with the gain at about 3:00.  Better with the OCD on there, than turning the gain further.  Its not true high gain, but its pretty much gain overall.
If that's a good clone of a univalve... it will have lots of gain, awesome touch response, supreme clarity and really lame low end. ;)
It's not a good clone.  Reviews say the gain is mushy and it doesn't have the clarity of the uni.  many are saying that it needs mods, but mods make it what is should have been to start with.  I was all about these when they came out... a 5 watter with tone controls and some gain. But early reviews are not good.  They were on sale for $169 new and I almost snagged one then, thinking that plus $50 for mods and you'd have a great little amp, but that happened right after I got my Special 6 Ultra so I was not going to try one til I had a thorough tryout with that.  Then the H+K 5 watter came out and I kind of lost interest in the Pico.

Most reviews early on said forget this and for the same price get the 20 like Jon has, that its a MUCH better sounding amp.  Jon, if I were you, I'd try a Special 6 Ultra, or the H+K instead.
Yeah I read some nasty articles re the univalve clone too just recently so that has put me off that completely....too many people saying it sounds like crap so it probably does.

I'm not really in the market for another amp it's just that it looked interesting and cheap enough not to worry too much about etc. I'm really happy with the JCA20H
Now I'm missing my Uni...  :(
Jon, get the H&K and we'll compare notes! I have the Special 6 combo, and the Special 6 Ultra head.

The biggest problem at the moment is I really don't have any time to play guitar at all...hoping to get time within the next couple of weeks and setup my new pc for the studio.
