So, I was right!
But who cares. How do two channels of Purple Plexi SOUND? Now that I know.... I'd be inclined to try a purple plexi and a seperate boost (whatever type worked). But that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with having it this way. If it works, it works, and I know the PP is a great pedal.
I actually just got the pedal yesterday.
It took me awhile to dial in the Provalve, but I dig it.
But as far as a Plexi sound goes, I still think my KOTB nails that sound better now that I can play them side by side (I've decided it's not going anywhere). The Plexi part of the ProValve is definitely more like a JCM800/900.
What I was surprised about is how much difference the pedal volume knob makes with the sound of this pedal. The last tweak I did that really made it sound best was to tweak the volume a little past unity and the pedal hit the sound I heard the other day when I tried my buddy's.
Also, it stacks well when the gain is not dimed. I tried a lower gain setting with the Tejas as a clean booster. Quite righteous!!
