Got to try the Lovepedal ProValve that I mentioned in the previous thread about a pedal that intrigued me.
This thing can RIP!! On both sides, with gain turned down, it can go from Plexi into JCM800/900 territory. When the gain is DIMED, it really gets into Mesa/Bogner Uberschall territory. It doesn't have the low-mid bump of the Boogie. The hi-gain was just smokin'.
I tried it on a JSX first. Quite frankly it smoked the lead channel of the JSX (and was quieter). I was telling Howie on email that it is amazing how crankin' this pedal is and is DEAD quiet. It actually sounded GIRTHIER!!
I then tried it through a Genz Benz Black Pearl combo to see how it sounded on something that was a Class A tone machine. It sounded good, but it took on the slightly brighter character of the Genz's clean sound (compared to a JSX). The Plexi sounds sounded better on it though.
It also was sensitive to how you used your volume knob on the guitar. The character changed as you turned down your knob (just like a real valve amp).
I have a feelin' that, once I get mine, I may trade up for a Class A tone machine (Bad Cat or Rivera Venus 6) and use this for heavy distortion.
