Our friend Lance has just told me that if anyone HERE wants one of the Tokai's, you can buy it at cost. $620 plus shipping and paypal fees if used. That means around $650 w/ case, shipped. (Plus paypal fees if you use that). We need to get a few of these sold because they are very good and word of mouth will sell more once a few people get them. I realize the market is small here, and I won't be offering them at TGP for this price. This is only for US.
Let me know if interested.
I'm searching the forum for the pics... can't seem to find them...
I put some up a while back. Let me look again...
$650 shipped is a good price. Anyone interested in a good axe should jump on it. I am not buying any new guitars anymore, I am shedding myself of any guitar I own that has any dollar value, trying to get my quiver down to fit the house I live in. I am about at the end of my playing days, I will still play but it only takes the 4 guitars (3 electrics and one acoustic) I have selected as keepers to keep me musically occupied.
Here's a little video of the Tokai factory, in Japanese.
It's like a 'boutique' factory, the attention to detail and amount of work done by "hand" is unlike any mass production factory.
Keep in mind the factory was opened in 1947 making pianos, it's still the same factory.

Take a look what the identical guitars (ATE70) cost in Australia.
They don't stock the ATE82 ASH model that Howie has, imagine what that would cost?

I'm having trouble with YouTube like Sheep mentioned he was having yesterday, Had to keep restarting the vid and jumping back to where I was.
These are really nice guitars, and you can see why.
p.s. Lance, I'd take the one in your profile picture RIGHT NOW!

I've got two in stock...they're not in the Tokai range, they were made for me on 'special custom order'. :)
LS105Q (Quilt) Blueburst.

And how about these "Customs"...LC98, all mahogany, see through Wine Red.

I know that even the Love Rock and other LP styles cost more than the models I have. I look at them on your site. ;)
That blue one is a beautiful guitar. Very nice!
BONUS: $5 off a new Tokai guitar to anyone who can interpret that whole video for me. ;D
Howie
Be careful, if you offer the guitars for free to someone here they'll ask you to pay for shipping. ;D ;D ;D
Craig did offer me $5 for one. ;D

But only if you have a payment plan and free shipping... ;)
I wish I could get these fucking guitars to me in South Africa, or I wish I didn't get Tokai Japan to ship them to the USA, but instead to me in SA.
I'm completely sold out of all my Teles and Strats in SA, and here I am looking at a whole shipment sitting in the USA gathering dust.
The problem in the USA is, once guitarists decide what the "incorrect facts" are, then that's that, you've got more chance of falling pregnant than convincing them what the real facts are.
I'm reading this Tokai thread on TGP.
Almost every single post is total garbage, clueless nonsense from guitarists who blabber away like they're Tokai experts, meantime none them have a clue what they're talking about.
Howie posts a comment on the thread, lol, they totally ignore him and just carry on talking crap...it's ridiculous. ;D
As far as I can tell those Tokai's are very nice instruments.
I have been selling my guitars off. I sold the 80's Les Paul Custom and the Faded SG with half moon inlays. I am trying to sell my Philip Petillo custom made guitar as well (Local Phoenix area sale only). Once I do that I still will have 3 electrics and one acoustic for my music hobby. At 70 years old I am not thinking playing out, so my guitar needs are covered for the rest of my playing days. The Petillo pictured below is the very finest tracking guitar for guitar to MIDI that I have ever played due to the bridge and how close you can get the MIDI pup to the bridge saddles. The guitar was configured especially for Guitar to MIDI use. It tracked way better than any guitar with a whammy or other bridge that had more room between the saddles and the MIDI pup.
Let me just say, Howie's done a ton of work getting these guitars into music stores in his area...it's much appreciated.
I've learnt a lot about this business in the last 3 years.
I've put guitars in a store and they've sat for 9 months, not a sale.
And then suddenly one day one sells, and then a few sell, and suddenly the salesman in the store get motivated, the energy in the store changes, and it's a new ballgame.
I have patience. :)
Thanks Howie.
:-) I'm sold. I bet if FB played one of these strats, he'd buy one. Other strat and Tele guys who compared them to Fenders even at the store price ($985 w/ case) would prefer these. But for $699 they are a great deal and a great guitar. But I know how it is. I wouldn't buy a Carvin for years and drooled over them. Wanted one, just had to FEEL it before i bought. Finally got a kit one off Craigs List and they are as good as I thought.
One of these all white strats will be mine! :-)
I'll trade you a krankenstein head for one of the white strats :D

Bitch you know my address. I've told you that you need to send me one to review. Hell send me a Strat and a Tele. Hell you could stop by my place on your way to your daughters place or on the way back from your daughters. But no. You don't call. You don't write. You don't send flowers anymore. What the fuck dude? :o
Lol, you must not know where my daughter lives, because you are about 5 hours the opposite direction from her.
Paul, my boss is Jewish, so he might " wheel and deal." ;D

You have a Jewish boss?, ooh shit, big mistake, I'll pray for you. ;D ;D
Where can one get one of the LP style Tokais--eg the Vintage Series? After some research I've realized they seem to be the only accurate modern Les Paul copies, and I've got a friend who is actively in the market. I can't find them anywhere but on ebay and in South Africa... ;)
Charger, Lance is THE way and he can hook you up. He is allowed to sell them here if someone wants them, but Gibson won't let him list them for sale as a dealer here, and won't let him import them for me to sell from here.
