Which just so happens to be the first minute or so of a song I've finally finished... :)
The rhythms in this are done with the Vintage channel on the mini recto. I tried it out at the urging of Howie. I have to say I think it sounds awesome... This amp is amazing :)
.....and I think you're right!! ;)
Beautiful sound! Also the clip sound very pomising!
gave me a brief Flight Over Rio flashback at the start! heh
guitars sound great!
Thanks guys! It's such a great feeling to complete a song again. Now on to the next one!
Oh yeah! Love that guitar tone. :)
(When you're done, would you mind teaching the Sheepster about this "completed song" concept? :D ;) )
Nice stuff. Well produced. Nice mix, excellent tones.
:) :) sounds great! I knew you'd like it. This amp is killer!
(10 watt or 25 on that clip?).
Thanks guys :)
Howie - it's in 25 watt mode there.
Really nice! You should hear that setup with the JP12! :o :o BAD A$$!!!! And, when you get a chance, try the 10 watt mode for a solo tracking. KILLS! And, you don't have to turn it up very loud to get GREAT singing lead tone.
Don't forget to mention me in the liner notes! LOL
I've got another rhythm tone I'm working on now. I'll send you settings in a couple days after I try it with a couple of the PRS's.
Given we have the same pickup and mahogony bodied guitars, I imagine we have extremely close sounding setups (speakers aside).
Hey! Want to trade guitars? LOL!
I'm using the Mini 90% of the time with a 1x12 V30 Avatar. It is the oval open back (good deal on Craigs List) but I have a pillow stuffed in it. LOL
I'm sure you'll be buying a JP soon with the royalties from the new CD!
Yep, I use my 2x12 Avatar (closed back cab) with V30s. I tap off the line out of my Hot Plate for recording and use V30 impulses. Sounds remarkably close to what I hear in the room (microphone colors added of course)
Haha! One song does not a CD make. And as far as royalties, maybe I'll get enough for a new pickup? LOL...
Maybe add ten seconds of silence at the end of the CD in honor of Howie? :D
BTW - What I use the most (a VERY relative term right now :( ) is my Recto Recording Pre, through a VHT 2/50/2, into an Avatar 1x12 V30 (sometimes I also use a second Avatar 1x12 with a G12H or an ADA Slant Stack 2x12 with the same speaker setup). The only guitar I currently have doesn't really have the right pickups in it to get the tones you do, hopefully I can afford to get my other custom finished (it's been in the works for FIVE years now!) since it has some nice Bare Knuckle Pickups in it (a Nailbomb humbucker and two Trilogy singles). I bet that combo will get close. Too bad the player is soooooo rusty and lacking sufficient talent - lol! ;D
Sounds mean, I like!! The mini I tried sounded nothing like that! Like the composition too.
D, it's the Vintage channel. It's not as brutz as the "Modern" channel. While I like the Modern for some things, I'm leaning heavily towards the Vintage channel. I'd bet most guys who tried it and went straight to the Modern setting would be blown away by how versatile this amp is on the other 3 channels!!! Killer little amp! As you can see, a real tone weapon in the hands of someone like Paul!
Lol yeah at 12 pounds and that nifty lunchbox size i could clock somebody really good with it :D
Thanks guys as you can tell I am thrilled with it. Pretty much the amp I've been waiting for for years. Actually other than some pickup changes I'm pretty much done with gear purchases now. I have a few new goodies (one of which I totally did not expect to be able to get this year) I need to make some clips of, lol. But the amp is the cornerstone.
What pickups were you using on that clip Paul?
For the rhythms it's a Dimarzio Crunchlab (7 string). For the melody lines it has been so long since I tracked them I have no idea what guitar (or amp even) I used. Most likely for the melodies it's a JB, although it could have been either a Dimebucker or the stock Ibanez pup in my 7.
For the record, I love the Crunchlab. It has a very full sound without being muddy, and doesn't have any annoying nasal or mid humps. It turned my 7 string into my favorite guitar just because it sounds so superior to everything else I have or have tried. I have one about to go into my main 6 string as well.
