I guess I'm slow to the party, not much of a browser when it comes to accessories and what not, just rely on word of mouth/reviews when I realize I NEED something. Anyway, all I can say about this thing is HOLY SHIT! Slam dunk, no doubter, best pedal I've ever heard/owned. My mouth literally hit the floor (at home, thru my stuff), I was damn sure grinning happily while playing anyway - the way only sweet sounding results from new gear can sometimes give ya. This thing takes the new head and transforms it into an absolute BEAST without altering the voicing/flavor so much as an ounce, its just incredible IMO. Soooo transparent with none of that pedal, transistory, square wavy, raspy shit, just adds fatness, saturation, etc, and only improves on an already great tone! Its like I just had an expensive, elaborate mod done but actually get to keep the original amp tone 'as is' as a bonus, lol.

I can now go from the nice stock/staple crunch, to creamy, liquidy, sustainy lead tone and everything in between with zero loss of the original sound. The OCD rapes my Bad Mokey and SD-1 in the boost dept (and any other area).

Honestly, I hate to sound wishy washy and flip floppy, but the Egnater folks prolly just unknowingly lost a Renegade 50 sale, lol!!!

Anyone else here own one of these? If so, why the ef didn't you tell me about it sooner? j/k  ;) ;D
Our resident audiopediophile will be here shortly to feel like a kicked puppy since you've obviously ignored his many, many posts about his favorite pedal (next to a dozen Metal Zones, of course! ;) :D ).

Really? LMAO! Alrighty then, its noted, DTR cred, +10.  :D

But yeah, like I mentioned, I've never done much "homework" or really followed a cetain piece of gear unless it is/was something I'm particularly very interested in buying (so watch how fast this thread vanishes now, lmao)...'course had I caught some clips of it here, you know....

....and yep, I was a bad student as a result of that same habit....if I'm interested, I'm fully there, if not, ZZZZZzzzzz, wake me later will ya.  ;)
I had an OCD.  Liked it for awhile, but never really bonded with it.  My current fav boost is an Analogman Beano Boost.  Way more open sounding.  Plus you can focus the frequencies you want boosted (low, mid, high).  It's based off the original Dallas Rangemaster.  I've loved it on about any amp I've tried it on.  I figured I'd always use a TubeScreamer variant as a clean boost for my Boogie.  Beano changed that.

But ya know, if ya like it, that is awesome!!  It's still a great pedal!! :)

Thats cool, glad you found one more to your liking. (=

Haven't tried it with the 6505+ yet, don't wanna jinx it, lol, but it sure seems like it was made for Marshalls! Where the other two I have both came off equally/similarly weak in front of it, the OCD (v1.4) is like day and night by comparison, just miles better.
Hope it makes you tone full for many moons.
Schils,

Where have you been?  I've been trying to tell you guys this for years!!!   J/K

One thing you didn't mention, is that this thing cleans up fabulously with the volume knob on your guitar.  So you can take any setting you like on your amp, set the OCD to add whatever amount of gain you want too, and actually LEAVE IT ON and just roll your guitar volume back to get back to the amp-only sound.  Robin Trower did a demo using the OCD on all the time that went from clean to scream.

And, as you're finding out, the OCD can add boost, or a little grit, or more grit, or a lot of grit... whatever you want, to the tone you already have.  So if you have a great amp, but it just doesn't have quite enough gain, or if you use a clean amp and want a wide range of gain out of it, the OCD can cover a lot of ground.

I've been playing with mine into the Rebel 20.  It can truly sound just like turning the gain up on the Rebel, BUT, it cleans up better than the Rebel does if you start getting into higher gain.

One other thing I love about the OCD... it can cross over from super dynamic open tone to smoother singing tone as the gain is cranked.

Oh, and for guys who have tried them, all 4 versions are significantly different.  I had a 1.2, Matt has a 1.3.  I sold my old one to get the new 1.4 and I heard and have read much about the differences between the versions.  (Also had a nice test with Lances V1).  Point being, if you've tried anything but the newest version, then what you played is significantly different.  Some still prefer V1 (the most dynamic and also scoop mids version).

Glad you're digging it man.  Pretty hard to beat that pedal overall.

And last, I'd like to thank my announcer, Mr. B, for the intro.   :)

Nice details, Howie, thanks. (=

I wasn't aware of the various version thing until I started reading some reviews (after I bought it). You're right, it does seem like the players that have owned each version have specific ideas about which is their personal fav, but I don't really see anyone dissing any single version, its pretty clear they all rock in their own way! I also have the most recent (1.4) - seems like even this one gets some votes as the best of the bunch, but its all subjective, I mean of course this guy likes the latest version best, tis the one he happens to sell!  ;)

Howie, the other big difference is the V1 OCD is hand-wired as opposed to PCB.  My buddy Jason had both a V1 and V2 and he discovered it after cracking both open.  I know V1 was his fav.

A nice, quick read on them here:

Derek.  I've had an OCD for quite a long time now.  I am absolutely in love with it.  Glad you like it so much.

My advice would be to run it at 18 volts.  Then what you think you love now will go to another world.  18 volts is the shizzle dizzle and allows that pedal to breathe in ways you have to experience as I cannot describe.
