The Watering Hole

I turned it on today and the darn thing lost a lot of it's volume, and a lot of it's tone.

I tried a new wire, took all the effects out of the signal chain, plugged straight into the amp, no change.

Tried another speaker and speaker wire, no change.

I am hoping it is just tubes, but of course it might be something more expensive and serious.

Any ideas?

probably a preamp tube...but just a guess.

Power tube, preamp tube would be my guesses, in that order.

Got it working again, went out to the shed and found the original HRD tubes. Plugged in the power tubes and bingo it was back to normal. Took out the originals and put back in the JJ's, and it still worked normally. Maybe it is a contact situation between the power tube prongs and the sockets. Also I found that the guitar wire from guitar to amp input is also causing the same problem. But so far the amp sounds like it always did, great.........
