Here it is...

I wish I'd had it a couple weeks ago when we did that acoustic gig. I bought it to help with stuff like that. I go to the other guitar players house to practice. I can now record the songs he wants me to learn and bring this home and work on them. I tried it last night and it seems to sound really good for what it is. Not bad at all for the price. It was on sale at GC for $135 and I had a 10% off coupon so less than $125.
Excellent. Now you can post clips :-) Nice device.
I set it a few feet back from one of my cabs last night and set it to 320K MP3 and it sounded really good. (not the playing, the recording!) It records in wav as well and multiple bit rates of MP3. Pretty cool device actually.
It is amazing the sound quality of these units these days. I have the zoom Q3HD that has HD video on board too and it is brilliant. The best thing of all about all of the current units is the size, absolutely tiny so easy to take anywhere!
I jammed with a friend a couple of months ago and he recorded us using one of those - seemed to be easy to set up and worked well. A lot better than our playing, but there you go. ::) ;)
Very cool. Been thinking about getting one of these. How much recording time is available on that thing, Howie?
Looks like a tazer of some sorts.
Juan,
I'll have to look tonight. I know this, it came with a 2 gig micro SD and I THOUGHT I would have to run straight to Micro Center to get a much bigger card. When I got it out of the box in the parking lot at GC and turned it on, I couldn't believe how much recording time there was! I put it in 320K bit MP3 mode and it was something like 17 hours! Even in wav mode it was over 3 hours or so. They don't quote this in the specs because as soon as you change the card it changes. I'll turn it on and give you some readouts tonight. I know it's WAY more than I thought to the point I don't feel I even need a bigger card. well, given that it has a USB cable right on it. You can immediately dump stuff on the computer to free up the card if you start getting lots of stuff on it.
This thing even allows you to "overdub" in what appears to be a faux two track recording manner. I'll have to try this out, but it appears you can lay on track over the other in this mode (and not erase it).
Kabala, it sort of does, doesn't it. Maybe I'll have to try it out on the little lady tonight and see if it works. :)

Great Scott! That's it! Now I know where I've seen it before....the Faux Capacitor! ;)

This thread is worthless without clips amigo, come on Howie dazzle us......
It's easy math... 320kbps stereo MP3 = ~2.4MB/minute.
2048 MB (if the 2GB card is "true" GB and not 1000 MB/GB) = 853 minutes / 60= 14 hours
WAV, 24-bit/44.1 stereo = ~15.5 MB/min.
2048/15.5 = 132 mins = 2 hours 12 minutes.
That's lots of recording time!
Charger, that is easy. :) (if you know the forumla). Anyway, that is probably very close to what was stated IIRC. I remember 16 bit wav was over 3 hours and even high bit rate MP3 gave TONS of time. This thing wold definitely go to BG if there ever IS another BertStock. I could even get those 3:00 A.M. on the porch sessions! ;)
Yep, in 320k MP3 you could record an entire weekend on a 4GB card easily. The tough part with recording jams (we record 2-3 hours every week) is the editing and posting...

What? And ruin his reputation???! ;D

Ok here goes....
24K Wav = 2h 15m
16k wav = 3h 22m
32k - 192k MP3 = 23h 59m (yes, they all quote the same.... making me wonder why you'd ever use less than 192K. But that's with this card and could change with a bigger one I suppose).
256K MP3- = 18h 37m
320k MP3 = 14h 54m
That's all with the stock 2 gig card. Not bad!
